Hi TL! First blog here. I want to save a proper introduction for my next blog but I had to write about my day today. I read a blog a few days ago about seeing a guy in a Day9 shirt on campus. I thought “That’s pretty cool. But I never see anything like that around my school ;_;” Well today changed that! And it totally made my day.
It was a foggy, ugly morning as it has been this entire week here at Delaware Valley College. I woke up to see that my roommate’s boyfriend had spent the night and to my dismay I see that they are pretty much naked. Idk I've been having roommate troubles lately but that's a whole other story.
Upon seeing the nakedness I turned back around feeling awkward and laid there pretending to sleep while they took approximately ten thousand years to get dressed and leave. I then dragged myself out of bed to study for a midterm (by that I mean I studied for ten minutes and then fucked around on the internet) and then I head out to take said midterm.
How I spend 80% of my time on the internet (yes that is a laptop)
I’m walking down the misty path towards my class (which is located in a trailer in a weird parking lot like ten minutes away) and I see a figure coming up the path towards me. I think nothing of it until I notice something on his shirt.
It was a golden symbol that I knew all too well. However, I wasn’t wearing my glasses so I thought I was seeing things. Surely no one at this hick school played Starcraft! Impossible! Until we crossed paths and indeed I could see he was wearing a Protoss shirt.
I was so choked up with excitement that alas I couldn’t even speak. (Cookies for anyone who knows the original drawing)
Instead of saying “Oh cool shirt” or anything of the sort I just walked by with a pokerface but on the inside I was like
I totally wish I said something! Darn me and my social skills. The last few weeks I also keep running into this kid who looks a lot like Day9 and now Protoss shirt guy? What is going on around here?!
So later on I went to the Hmart with my friends, ate some delicious Korean food and now I'm here playing the 7th Terran mission on bw and this happens
So yeah spending my Friday night on the computer.
Also please have this Zergling I drew in between classes the other day since you had to look at my horrible doodles. + Show Spoiler +
So TL I'll leave you with this question: have you ever seen anyone at your campus/school establishment/public places with Starcraft related apparel? If so do you say anything to them?

I saw someone wearing a Zerg short in the supermarket a few months ago. Sadly I wasn't wearing a SC-shirt at the time so it felt awkward to just scream 'Zerg OP'. Besides that he kinda looked like a tool, so meh :/

Only seen a handful of shirts so far, on the other hand like 1 in 10 desktop backgrounds i catch a glimpse of on peoples laptops at my university are either SC2 or LOL related.

I haven't seen anyone wearing a SC shirt outside of LANs/conventions, but I have a couple and I get comments on them sometimes. You should try wearing one yourself, more people play than you think!

omg the only thing missing from this blog is butterflys and rainbows and unicorns.
all of my roommates are starcraft players, and even some guy who does his laundry here (honestly i have no idea where he lives). I met one guy who said he was really good at starcraft at my univ. (this was 3 years ago so no sc2) and we played a few games. That's pretty much it.

And no I've never seen anyone wearing anything SC2 related, all the gamers I know play CS 1.6, the only RTs game that is popular here imho is WC3, and that's because of DotA. :/

I found out I worked at the same company as coLrsvp last year when I wore the TL winged horse t-shirt to a training session and got contacted afterwards; that was pretty random and cool.
In the meantime, I keep a few SC shirts in the wardrobe rotation to see if it catches anyone's eye; no luck yet. =/

With all these threads popping up lately there's something I just can't understand...
Why do so many people not say anything when they see people with sc/tl/etc gear on? I mean, my first reaction is "hey a starcraft shirt" or something like that...

To this day I've never seen another person wearing a TL shirt other than myself. Also, only one person has ever had the idea of saying something when I was wearing the shirt at San Jose State. I have seen a dude with a Terran shirt, but I'm kind of racist when it comes to this game so I just chose not to berate him with my inner hatred.
edit: I think we as a SC community should come up with some kind of nerd, gang sign to identify ourselves as part of the SC community. Surely some pro player could endorse this and begin the trend....

I got one of those HOPE shirts with Idra's face on them that was going around in beta. No one has said anything to me yet other than "Who is that on your shirt".

I've worn my TL shirt to class at least once every 2 weeks since September. I haven't had anyone come up to me about it yet which I find a bit surprising. There are quite a few koreans at my university, not that being korean implies knowledge of starcraft lol.
Maybe I need to spend more time around the engineering building ^^

Other than my CSL team, I once saw someone wearing a handsome nerd hoodie across the street. I didn't stop him or anything, didn't seem to be too big a deal since my CSL team is like 20-40 members strong now lol, and the DC area has a pretty enormous TL community at this point

I wear my TL shirt at least once every other week to class and have yet to have someone say anything about it, or even give some hint of recognition. This just might suggest there aren't any gamers in my classes. But the thing is, I go to an art college...and my building is also the interactive game design building .____.
It seems that my fellow SC players here are as socially inept as the artist stereotype implies. Either that or I'm not liking the games people here are playing (and subsequently might be making in a few years).

I wear my Protoss shirt out sometimes but I never noticed anyone who recognises it. :< Sometimes I wear the Protoss shirt and my bf wears his Horde shirt and in my mind theatre we're two sick nerd ballers with sun rays lighting our path as we walk on the streets.

=D You should say hi to people wearing sc shirts man! SC People are generally super friendly. I sometimes wear my 1a2a3a hoody or my handsomenerd bunny happy face t-shirt and I've had people just walk up to me and be like "Sup nice shirt!" (For example today as I arrive early and am waiting in the halls for my anthro class to start!). I even once had it happen mid-workout at the gym. It's pretty cool~ defintely say hi to people from sc community even if you dont know them (unless they're clearly busY) !! :D

I wear my zerg rush t-shirt on campus on a regular basis but I've yet to see anyone else with similar apparel or been approached about it. I've seen a couple people with WoW hats or shirts but who cares about them?

I love wearing my nerd shirts around campus (eg jersey, sup son shirt, TL esports shirt). A few weeks ago after I was walking out of my math class one of the guys in my class was like "hey, nice shirt" as I had my EG jersey on and the retarded me only managed to say thanks instead of talking to him more @__@ fuuuu

I have 2 zerg shirts that I wear on campus pretty often, and my bag is the sc2 zerg messenger bag. I did see a guy with a sc2 shirt on campus one day and I made sure to get his real id to add him lol. My life is starcraft 2 soooooo I jump on chances to talk to people about it XD

Once when I was in Panera (nice deli kind of restaurant) I saw a guy wearing a yellow Day-9 shirt. But I didn't realize it until I walked by him. Then I was like OMG O_O. I decided not to talk to him though since he seemed he might have been in his 30s (or late 20s) and I'm in high school so it would have been awkward.

I was at a club seeing Kill the Noise with some friends. I had been playing starcraft all day prior so when I turned around and saw a Terran symbol I figured I was just seeing things. Did a double take and saw a guy with a Terran shirt on pointed it out to my friend who played terran and we ended up getting his character code haha.

You'd love studying at my university for sure. SC2-fans are everywhere and they are not hiding It for a single second. So come to us at Stockholm University where zergshirts are an everyday appearance and the dining hall is always discussing GSL. Great blog by the way. I love it!

StarCraft shirts are instant friend-makers for sure. The day after I got my TL shirt I decided to wear it as that was the day of the week that I had the most class time. Recognized instantly--at least in CS/Math classes -.-;;

Same here. I was sitting in my econometrics class, and watched the IPL during the lab. Next class period the guy that sat next to me came in with a TL shirt on! TL makin' friends worldwide. Props to Nick. More TL, more skill.

I usually wear one of the TL t-shirts. 2 months ago I picked up the mic at an open mic in a bar (and was wearing the TL shirt). I beatboxed for about 15 minutes. When I left the scene and grabbed a wiskey at the bar, some nerd came to me and told me "nice beatboxing, and gogo team liquid !". I was happy for the compliment, unfortunately that nerd was male.

I have a self made Protoss button since broodwar (so the symbol is that of the akilae tribe - what is now the first protoss tical you get - not the new symbol on the shirts) and I wear it on my jacket. I once got attacked by nazis because they thought it was some sort of leftish political statement (Terrans....). But it also helped me to find my recent 2v2 partner, a huge sc2-fan with a Zerg tattoo on his back ^^

Crazy i'm in Delaware valley Pa, I wear my Protoss/Terran/Zerg shirts out all the time ( would wear team liquid if the blue shirt ever comes out again!?!) any ways no i havnt seen another person wear star craft apparel but i have been recognized for it.

I tend to wear my Protoss shirt & that shirt with Zealot with Zergburger quite a lot. Never got called on it, though. Maybe people are intimidated, because I'm 27 & often going along with my son. Forever w/o real-life SC2 friends, booo <.<

I saw a guy like 3 years ago wearing a t-shirt from handsome nerd (this is SC:BW) about a DT and something something(they dont seem to have anyting BW-related left on their page). It was quite awesome, and i was in shock for a while. I went up to him and started talking to him but that was kind of it. Didnt want to out his gaming addiction to his friends i guess ^^

I haven't really seen anyone with starcraft related apparel besides at this past MLG Raleigh event. I have seen one guy playing some custom games of SC2 during our programming class. I have also seen one or two of those jim raynor flash drives that came along with the collectors edition around school. So I am sure there are at least a few SC2 fans around my area but I have not seen anyone who would really follow the scene all that much. I also don't recongize anyone who might play SC2 past the campaign and custom matches with a competitive mindset so I don't think I will bring up the topic.
I have worn my Jim Raynor flash drive around school at least a couple of times and I do wear my stride gum shirt that I got from MLG Raleigh a good amount too. I have also been playing some SC2 in the school's cafeteria but nobody has really mentioned anything so far. It is probably because I go to a tech school and I am in the Simulation and Game Development program so I would already know just about anyone who would follow SC2.
I have a question about a situation I've been thinking about that relates to the question in the OP. The question is would it be better or worse to wear something related to starcraft when you go up to a group of koreans and make a first impression. I ask because I am interested in learning korean because I want to find out what happened to Huxley: The Dystopia, SC2, and from my experience the korean people are generally good people to be around.
So far I have been going through talktomeinkorean.com. I'm sure immersion into the language is needed in order to actually learn the language. So I was going to go say hi to a group of koreans that I usually see around in the cafeteria in between classes. Maybe we will have some things in common and I'll end up learning some stuff. However I am not sure if they like or hate starcraft. I wouldn't want to make one of those 'oh he's that kinda of guy' type of impression if they end up not liking starcraft.

it got spotlighted by page 3 ;P. Its good to break out of your comfort zone and talk to people tho. And well, you wont find a guy wearing a nerdy shirt that will be rude to a nice young lady sharing the interest. Lol if anything you might end up wanting to get away from them in the end!
Oh did you ever say what school you go to? i read the thread but cant think of it. That might have helped your cause lol. I should get a starcraft shirt for when i return to school in a couple months. Might be one way to meet people in an area ive never been too.

What seriously? I never noticed haha >.< Yeah I totally regret not saying anything, it probably would have went over fine. I always let my nerves get the best of me. I'll typically just stare and admire from afar. I'm working on it though!
I go to Delaware Valley College in PA. It's a little agriculture and science school. I definitely mentioned it in the OP, just subtly I suppose. And yeah go for it! You could end up making a good SC buddy :D

A friend gave me custom made Protoss Shirt for my birthday. It has Protoss symbols and Zeratul and Carrier on it, and the pictures are not too bright, but,, It is my favorite T-shirt and I wear it in public and I am hoping that someone will recognize what it is. For now, no one does, but you never know

I was wearing my Protoss shirt a few weeks ago while trying to flag down a cab at a pretty busy intersection here in San Francisco. In the distance I saw a convertible full of dudes driving down the block, top down and looking like a party. I figure, since it was Sunday, that these guys had just came back from watching a big game or something.
As they sped by, one of them looked straight at me and shouted something.
"GO PROTOSS!"
It gave me hope for my brothers of Aiur, that one day we would emerge victorious again.

I did something similar when I was downtown HB a few months ago. I was wandering around from bar to bar to try and find some friends around dusk. I was about to leave and I start crossing the street and this cute brunette 20something sitting there says 'I like your shirt' or 'cool shirt' or something like that (wearing the black/purple zerg jinx shirt). For some dumb reason I just assumed that she thought it looked cool and didn't know what it represented or something and said 'thanks' and nodded from afar and kept walking. A moment later I saw a girl I knew and she was super drunk and so happy to see me so I kinda blew it.
If you're on these forums, I'm sorry I shoulda talked to you. Seriously one of the biggest regrets I have as of late with superficial/boring girl troubles. Like seriously even if she didn't know what it meant, that was the biggest fail in game I've ever made, a girl IOI'd me and I just walked on..
I should actually do my own blog about this so people can facepalm it.

I work at a kindergarten here in china and have about 7 sc2 shirts in total. The kids love the tshirts that have different zerg units on them "oooo look at this one! It's flying and it looks so scary! it shoots out its butt." etc
got my i <3 sc shirt with zerg larvae too :D

I was wearing my Zerg t-shirt on my way home from a relaxing train ride. Little did I know, when I was getting off that train I would have a guy slap me on the head.
"Wtf was that?" I say to myself in my head, and find the culprit behind me a guy is standing with a Protoss shirt, whom was grasping the bottom of his shirt to make the image clearer on his t-shirt.
"You best not 6 pool bro." He says, out loud to me. I wanted to hug him, but I felt that would be out of place.
"Ahahha, I won't" I wish I had anything else to say besides "I won't", but sometimes you can't think of anything more creative at the time ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I saw someone with a zerg rush t-shirt but he was at a distance and i did not have the courage. Other than Dreamhack i dont think i have seen more apparel out in the open. However i would like to mention seeing Will Wheaton with Zerg shirt on Big Bang Theory, but i guess that has been on reddit since monday anyway.

Seriously, try putting up posters in some of the more commonly traversed areas of your school. Your school has places you can do that, yeah? Just a simple (but big), "You! With the Protoss shirt!" and a brief explanation beneath that of the situation. If the guy's around, that should be a good way to find him. We protoss are suckers for a good poster.
