Greetings!
I just made a new account on TL and have been waiting for those 3 days to pass so I could finally make a blog ^^
So, I have always wanted to be a good drawer, but have never really done it alot. So a couple of days ago I made a promise to my self that I would draw at least 30min per day.
I drew this picture of a stalker yesterday evening that I am pretty satisfied with. There are some flaws, but I drew without an eraser, because most say that is best for learning. It is a pretty chubby Stalker, lets just say it that way. So here it is:
I don't have a scanner, so you must live with the bad quality :D
So....do you guys think that I could be good any day? I am practicing every day atm, and I enjoy it alot. Also take into consideration that this one could be better if I had an eraser.
Thanks for reading!

Sure you can be good if you keep working on it. I'd suggest getting a white paper, a set of pencils (looks like this was all done using one?) and if you want to draw realistically (which is what you should be aiming for) try focusing more on drawing some everyday stuff.. take a look at your desk and draw something that's there.. a bottle, pc mouse, a mug.. try to get the perspective, proportions and the basic shapes right at first, then you can mess around with shading/coloring.. and maybe one day you'll feel comfortable enough to actually draw the hard stuff (people etc). It's hard though, good luck .

It's interesting to see how much you focus on shading. Especially since I would think most beginners focus on the line art first. I don't know if this is intended, but it gives the drawing more life.
I don't see why you can't be good at something you're committing to every day. Like StarCraft, having a goal to improve a specific aspect of your skill can help a lot. However, unlike StarCraft, it's art, so strict mechanics aren't always necessary. You can develop an "eye" for what looks good and right to you, and thus create your own style.

It looks like a stalker and an immortal had a baby. Still pretty cool though.

Look like the sentry from portal... which is remarkably cute. ;3
I think if drawing is what you really want, then just stick with it and you'll improve. No way to know unless you try.

Read "the new drawing on the right side of the brain" and follow the exercises, I haven't read it myself, but a lot of people really like it. And from what I see it should give you a good start to then later on diverge to things you want to draw or certain techniques.
Besides that, go buy a book, or search the internet on how to draw in a 1 point/2point perspective (these 2 should be enough usually), play around with the horizon line, etc and just do a lot of exercises in it. Even if you don't plan on actually using the helping lines in the future, it's good way to actually learn to draw in perspective then just trying to try to "freestyle" it from the start.
But yes, as long as you practice, and read stuff everyone can draw decently. As with all things, there is an aspect of talent, but you don't have to be talented to draw something decent.
There are a lot of examples out there on the internet of people who drew self portraits like a 14 year old kid would, but trough practice/etc they actually became really good at it.

It was intended, I think it makes it more clear what is what, and what relation it has to other objects around it.
Also, thanks for the replies everybody

I think the stalker is really nice. If you keep practicing, I totally think you can get really good. In fact, you inspired me to try working on my own art. I also drew a stalker.

Lol, I was on skype with my friend when I drew it.
I said to him: "Think I'm gonna draw now, think I'll go for the Stalker" Then he said : "You're drawing Patricia? (my ex-GF)"
I LOL'd so hard :D

Your friend should do starcraft commentary, haha. I think they'd be entertaining.
