Hello!

I have been using my old ( very old ) gear for some time now. About 3 years I would believe. Now, as a 14 year old, I have saved up enough money to get a new mousepad, mouse and PC. For my old eqquipment.
1st) My mouse, it is a 5 year old office mouse, so yeah, it sucks.

2nd) My mousepad. It has loads of scratches and stuff that makes my mouse go all freaky sometimes. Other than that it is okay I guess.

3rd) My PC. Wow this is really a pile of shit. I am so surprised it can even run SCII. But it does, to a very minimum that is.

My future new eqquipment!

1st) The mouse. Hell yeah, after 3 years of this sucky mouse, I am getting a razer imperator. That is really gonna kick ass! Razer Imperator

2nd) The mousepad.

After mouse seizures and shit, I am so ecxited for this to come. Razer Goliathus Control Edition

3rd) And the PC, what can I say. My normal fps is 20 -.- In the start of the game I would usually lose 5 sec cuz of lagg, and if a 200/200 army battled, I would lagg like shit! SO having a new PC that will be able to play in high with ease ( even though I will be having settings on low ) will be awesome.

So my question to u guys is.......Do you think my new gear will help me improving and playing? ( diamond level ). Thanks for reading.

You'll have trouble adjusting to the new mouse for a few hours/days, but in the end higher precision gear can only help in the longer run. Bout the mousepad - dunno how long do they last. I've been using a good mousepad and a 2$ one and dont really feel the difference(except for longevity). Well if your 3 year old computer is shit, my 6 year old(running SC2 no probs on low, just having trouble handling maxed ling/bling armies) is not even a computer anymore. And obviously, being able to handle maxed armies will help your play. : P In the end, it wont make you suddenly win all games, just a slight increase in comfort of playing.

Steelseries QCK Mass mousepad is my suggestion. Roughly 20 dollars

If you want a cheap but great mouse, the Microsoft Intellimouse Explorer 3.0 will be anywhere from 12 to 20 dollars top

If you're more extravagant with your mouse you can wait til the Steelseries Sensei is out, that'll surely be fairly expensive though, any of the popular Razer micel ike the Deathadder and what have you tend to be popular choices as well.

For a computer, thats a whole topic in it of itself.

You should check what the pros use instead. No one on the entire pro-scene uses an Imperator. Do you think that's because it's too expensive for Razer to give to their sponsored teams, or does it simply suck? Pick a mouse based on grip. Palm = Deathadder, Claw = Abyssus, Fingertip = Salmosa (does have prediction). There are other brands than Razer as well.

As for the PC - try finding someone to pick the parts and build it for you. 14 is probably a bit early for a first build unless you have some more experienced builder with you for assistance.

This is an straight up honest question. If you have a decent mouse then what the hell difference does the mouse pad have?

I have a Logitech laser mouse and it works without a hitch on any surface. The only reason I have a mouse pad at all is for the wrist rest.

The imperator comes with its fair share of problems... The sensor is quite bad with the liftoff issues... If its not already ordered, I would recommend holding off on the purchase.

I used the Imperator for a long time. It is the wife's mouse now. Only problem I had was that it would move on its own accord if there was much vibration in the room. Otherwise, its a great mouse at least at 4500 dpi.

I had a scummy old generic mousepad for years. So I bought the thick QcK pad and honestly I don't feel any difference in tracking. The only difference is personal comfort I think. And I like soft thick pads because resting your wrist on a hard surface for a long period of time will start to hurt. Some people like hard pads because they like the "gliding" feel of it.

The thickness of a QCK Mass/Heavy is good because it creates a more even surface, and a lot of the mousepad has to do with friction. I use a fairly low sensitivity due to my old FPS days so having a large surface to work with (QCK Mousepads are fairly large), and having a good even high friction surface combined with fresh feet on the mouse is always a nice thing to have.

Also cloth pads won't wear out the feet on your mice. There are a lot of benefits to a high quality mousepad. Obviously it won't turn you from a platinum to a masters league player or anything, but its just a nice set of tools to work with.

I prefer paper mousepads. I generally use one of those 70 sheet spiral notebooks they sell in office depot for like, 10 cents each or something. hard surfaces have too much glide, cloth seems to give too much friction (for me).

I also use Steelseries QCK/Razer Salmosa and never saw better than this. I used all sorts of mouse and small "fingertip grip" ones are really the best for RTS and general uses.

It depends on how bad the generic mousepad youre using is. I have a deathadder on a QCK right now and it feels much more smooth than my old one, which had a more sticky feel to it. Yeah itll work fine on any surface, but the right mousepad will make it feel better.

Consistency. The mouse pad is portable - your desk is not and you're going to want the same surface texture both at LAN and at home. Your mouse feet will also be worn down if you ever play at a rough textured surface and without feet friction will increase.

im exactly the same as you. Diamond player and my pc holds me back (i already have the MX518 mouse and steelseries pad) but my fps sucks so much. I CANNOT get to late game against zerg especially and i can hardly even attack on creep really. Im looking into getting a new rig cos i think its bound to help. It affects the way i play. I think 'right i gotta go all in off 2 base cos of lag -_-'
