Day 3 My last day in Kyoto. I wake up later than usual since the only thing I have planned for the day is getting to Tokyo in one piece. Katsuya's made me breakfast, further cementing his awesomeness. We exchange goodbyes, and I'm off to Kyoto station to get on the Shinkansen to Tokyo.
The Shinkansen ride was longer and more expensive than my plane to Japan. The night before, Katsuya kept on telling me to check out the bathrooms on the Nozomi trains. They were nice, but I personally wouldn't urge someone to check them out. I think Katsuya just liked trains.
View aboard the Shinkansen. My Tokyo host, Mahsashi, picked me up from the station near his place in Meguro. Mahsashi had to go back to work, but he told me that I should check out Shibuya, which was a short train ride away. Not willing to spend any more time in my hot, non-ACed room, I was on my way.
Some random street in Shibuya. The moment I exited Shibuya station I knew that Tokyo was a completely different ballgame from Kyoto. I was confronted with the famous Shibuya crossing right out the gate, and the number of people was just staggering. I visited the Starbucks overlooking the crossing but left fairly soon after seeing how packed it was. I quickly learned that it wasn't Starbucks that was packed; it was Shibuya itself. I wandered through the packed streets for a bit, getting a feel for the area. Given my home's proximity to Shibuya I knew I'd be coming back to again, so I called it a day and headed back.
Walking through Meguro after dinner. It was a relatively uneventful day, but it was a welcome opportunity to recharge and recoup before diving into Tokyo any further. I had a feeling that it was going to be a draining, but fun, experience.

You should've waited for a window seat at Starbucks and watch chaos unfold and reverse itself every five minutes! It's like watching a fish tank.

Wow, I'm insanely jealous. Amazing blog series. The pictures are really impressive, as well.
Just out of curiosity, how much did you put aside as a budget for this trip? I've always wanted to go to Japan, but my poor college student brain has no comprehension of how much things actually cost.

neat blog!!!! Yea, but I think I saw crazier ones at Akihabara. More on that later! :D Akihabara Club Sega and its 8 floors should be a pretty enough arcade to check out. I don't remember many Shibuya ones aside from a couple Guilty Gear ones. SF4 arcade would be BIGBOX Takadanobaba.
Mrminininini if you are still in japan, did you find a way to sneak into TGS?
