Occasionally I read on the tl blogs about ppl not being able to fall asleep and I read through some of them becuz I too have trouble sleeping at times. I know exercise is a good one as I have experience with that myself and keeping ur eyes closed but recently I found another good method to help you. Well actually I known about this for some time but when I'm cramming all night for finals don't really think of it.

Bascailly you take a warm shower then lay in bed and read ur book. This works especially well if you have a twin and forced to stay at one spot causing that spot to get warm. The warmth and the boring-ness of the activity called reading should put you to sleep pretty fast if you're anything like me.

It helps. As far as I know, it's not harmful.
Btw, I've also heard that you should stop using computer 30-60 min before going to bed. I don't know where I've read that though.

well i like reading a book before bed, but the obvious problem for me is i need my lights on to read, which makes it hard to get sleepy when lights are blaring so i can read to get sleepy in the 1st place, then why im finally ready to put the book down, i have to get up and close lights, which in turn wakes me up. lawl i dunno, guess i need one of those book lights, or something.

I can't read to go to sleep, I get too absorbed and finish the book and stay up later. But then, for me, sleep is for when I need it. I don't devote myself to a schedule. I know how to stay up via pure willpower, and can sleep any time and place if I so desire. Old army skill I've retained. I've slept in some weird places.

This. I take Melatonin when I really need to fall asleep, but be prepared to devote at least 8 hours to a pretty deep sleep. Funnily enough, the reason you shouldn't use your computer before bed is a direct relation to Melatonin. The light given off from your screen causes your brain to not produce Melatonin naturally, and as such its a lot like trying to get a full night's worth of sleep at noon. I should also mention you usually end up with pretty awesome dreams, even if you are not one who normally gets them at all.

Ok I forgot to include this but yes this is exactly what I'm talking about. That's what I meant by "extra boost" becuz i'ts late at night and ur already semi-tired so doing this should give that extra "boost" so to speak by the title name :p

Where do you read your book at? If you lay on ur side on a bed it will get warm ina while if you stay at the same spot. I dunno..for me, the warmth+reading puts me to sleep pretty quickly.

I think if you read at a desk, it's not as likely but me along with others have fallen asleep pretty quickly reading while laying on the bed.

pro strategy, just started doing that a few months ago.
I can only play starcraft when I am shit canned. IPXZERG is a god.

When I tried to read a book to fall asleep last night at 12 PM I ended up going to sleep at 3 AM cuz I had to finish it, I guess this method isnt for me

tbh the best way to fall asleep quickly is to have a regular sleep schedule. Also don't eat for a few hours before bed and eat a nice breakfast, that will set your biological clock and make it easier
