Hello, I am Harry Barham and I started playing StarCraft 2 after seeing “I Suck at StarCraft 2” on Total Biscuit's channel. I come from a First person Shooter background, I played a lot of CoD 4: Modern Warfare awhile ago, then my friend told me I should get World Of Warcraft, and my days of CoD we're over. I really enjoyed WoW and I couldn’t wait for the new expansion pack: Cataclysm. So to look at the game play of it, I took a short trip over to you tube. There I eventually stumbbed across Total Biscuit’s Cataclysm footage. I watched a lot of that.
Then one day on the WoW launcher I first heard about StarCraft 2, The cool looking space marine on the case interested me, but I never looked it up or anything. Then a few days later on Total Biscuit's Channel “I suck at StarCraft 2”, and I had a look after being intrigued a few days before. It was totally not what I was expecting, it look amazing, I fell in love pretty quickly. After watching a couple more episodes I decided I would take a trip down to game and buy it.
After playing the campaign I took my best try at the Online, I had the basic concepts of the game down, but I thought how hard is this going to be. I wish I didnt but I ended up playing 3 games in the practice league then thought, “I really want to get into one of the leagues.” But obivously I was pretty stupid to play 3 games then try the qualification match thingys. So I lost all 5 and got dumped into bronze.
Being in bronze and losing a lot made me lose interest and I more or less quit the game for 2 – 3 months. Then I decided to go have a look on youtube for some StarCraft 2 video's. Then I found HUSKY, and learnt about the pro scene that I never knew existed until then, watching the pro matches was unbelievable. I loved it once again. Then somehow I ended up on Teamliquid.net (probably Husky or HD mentioned it). Once I found TL the gate was open and the Floodlights we're shinning, if you get my drift...
So I found out about the SCreddit invitational, that was the first live tournament that I ever watched of any game. It was full of thrills and excitement, I ended up supporting White-Ra because of his insanely weird strategys, I didnt even know they was weird, they we're just a lot different to the macro styles of the other guys.
So I was getting back into Laddering because I was trying out all this cool shiz, then I really dont know how but I find out about DAY[9] :OOO, and I watch every episode on blip.tv and I loved it especially the newbie tuesdays, then that kickstarts my learning process, as I learn about pylons and probes, macro and micro, and all other sorts of important stuff. I end up watching the “How to get into StarCraft” and I go to the blog and post a “looking for a buddy blog”, It got closed just like most of my thread. But I end up finding someone else's, and give him a message.
Hes name was Jed and we are now really good friends, We talk on skype every night and on Fridays and Saturdays stay up laddering and playing each other till the early hours of the morning. Then I got premoted to Silver, I was soo happy after being in bronze for so long.
And now here I am High silver, trying to earn my Gold “badge” and watching a lot of tournaments, following my favorite pros and watching the 50k of TSL3 turn into a six figure sum in MLG, I watch as SC2 grows, it has become part of my life and if it wasnt for Totalbiscuit I wouldnt be here and playing sc2, I quit WoW a long time ago along with a lot of other games that I just never feel like playing, I ushally just play SC2 and LoL. I still even have a replay of one of my first games that i won.
Hope you enjoyed reading this. GL&HF!
