Howdy!
So I was basically laddering like a BOSS and winning games in masters league owning everyone. Nothing could go wrong right? I was cheese proof, macro proof, everything proof... Except for one thing, I was not internet proof.
GOD DANGIT!!! I even bought a new freaking router because my internet kept dying on me. What happened was that my old router kept on restarting itself so I feared ladder and disconnecting which eventually made me stop playing ladder altogether. My new router seemed fine at first and I got 10 wins and 1 loss the first two days, I was on a ROLL. But then... just before I went to sleep today I decided to play one more game because I felt like I had some time left over and nothing could stop me. (WHY DID I DO IT)
I clicked the Find Match button and faced a Zerg on Tal'Darim. I thought to myself: "Oh yeah, this will be fun. My favourite map with my favourite matchup."
I decided to go 15 CC just because I wanted to outmacro the zerg fair and square. Well... when I built the CC at my choke something happened, the screen froze and a box showed up covering most of the screen. "Waiting for Server"

So yeah... I just wanted to vent my anger. I was doing Buffcraft so I made like 15 pushups but it was harder than usual because I felt angst and sadness. 
YOU KNOW WHAT? My freaking internet died again while I was writing this. God damnit, I gotta go eat some watermelon before I freak out.

hehe, don't worry I've had similar issues. Used to constantly lag when laddering, wasn't too much fun but I stuck with it and my net/router is fine now. Just keep eating that watermelon and dreaming of a better router, it'll happen!!!!!!

I had recently a day where i had constant disconnects where my PC said "cable unplugged". Cost me 2 games i was about to win.
Turned out my router died, a few hours later it couldn't even make a DSL connection anymore. With the replacement router i don't have any problems anymore.

Ah man that sucks...hope you can fix your net problems XiGua. Lol at you eating a watermelon, I can just imagine you tearing it apart to release stress

Ack, whenever I go home for a week I basically have to cut ties with the world that isn't within driving distance. I can't even watch a 2 minute video on youtube without the video stopping halfway through and refusing to load the rest, let alone even consider online gaming. I think I can play minecraft on a really small server if I put up with the delay. We're just in a sweet spot where broadband services refuse to roll out decent networking as we essentially live in a hamlet. No ISP is going to realistically pay to install new cable, especially when it's essentially only me out of all the houses that uses the Internet, since no one else really sure what a computer is.
Needless to say, when I moved to the city, my mind was blown.

that sucks dood. There is actually a lightswitch in my house that turns off the outlet that my router is plugged into. I've taped it up but sometimes a fool will turn it off while I'm on.... oh man i eat watermelons on those days.

pretty much yes. it won't die on you and doesn't need to be rebooted periodically in order to keep working. of course if it's your Internet provider or the line to your house that has issues, there's not much a router can do about it. but if it *is* the router that has problems, a WRT54GL is the fast track to relaxation.

I see. I will check if it's the line to my house that is the problem first though before buying a WRT54GL...
I do hope I don't need to buy ANOTHER new router. It cost me 1200 kr, aka ~175 USD to buy this piece of crap which apparently did nothing...
