I was going to write a blog about a walk i took this morning, but it made for some boring reading so ill write about something more meaningful.
Team Liquid. Ive been lurking around here since the release of Sc2, reading threads and watching streams, the usual stuff, never posting, the rules were far too scary. Until recently. I've gotten many hours of learning and streaming and laughing and reading out of this site, and i feel that its only fair that i should contribute, even if it is only my opinions. I'm asking myself some questions that i don't know the answers to. Is this good enough for TL? Is me writing my thoughts down considered contributing , or not? i feel like i want to give more back to this community, but i don't really know how. i'm just a gold leaguer, so any strategic grasp of the game i have is shaky at best. i haven't been into the starcraft scene for very long so I've yet to develop really strong and....developed.... opinions about ANYTHING, really. On top of that, i haven't written regularly like this in years, and when i read other posts, my own seem hopelessly inadequate. How do i contribute, without putting junk on TL, when i'm so rusty that everything i produce is junk? Another thing is the fact that i'm constantly trying to make sure i don't break any rules, or piss off any forum vets. breaking rules is really a much larger concern, but still...who wants drama? anyways....rules...I'm always trying to avoid breaking them ,and it freaks me out when i accidentally do. like i just bumped a thread from late June, but it didn't have the OLD POST thing on it yet. it occurs to me now that bumping that thread was probably still a bad idea, even though i thought my posts were alright.
Just shit like this. stressful being a new poster. hope i get the hang of it.

There's more than just a strategy thread on TL
Read/respond to peoples' blogs, listen to podcasts and get involved in those community discussions, or just cruise through the general threads and talk about your hobbies, or whatever interests you.
The SC2 strategy thread is a great resource though, and asking a good question there is often just as important as answering one. Just don't be shy!

Know that feel, bro. I've lurked long enough to see the obvious intelligence of serious posters and sometimes brutal use of the warn/banhammer by the mods on TL.
Mostly I try to contribute by answering easy questions on the Simple Questions/Simple Answers thread or showing support for players' fanclubs/ESPORTS announcements. As much as I'd like to carve out a niche for myself as a good poster, I think perhaps it's just as noble to be a supporter and a reader.

Well think of it like this: Team Liquid is a community based website. Would you have come to join Teamliquid if you have not heard about it from others? These others are the contributers of Team Liquid and they help the growth of it by providing content and by telling others about it. When you click on a topic, would you read about it more if it's just the OP? Or would you really sit and think about it if you saw the OP and saw numerous comments about the topic?
What about the Liquibets? When you see the polls, would you feel encouraged to participate more if there 10 votes or if there were 4000?
As long as your opinion and provide reasons and don't use bad manners, almost anything you do helps contribute to the growth of the Team Liquid community.
In Team Liquid, the number of posts matter because for the most part it reflects back on, in retrospect, the amount of contribution you've given to the community. That's why 'older' veterans of Team Liquid are usually seen with respect.
So go for it! Don't worry so much and just try your best ^.^ And if anyone purposefully tries to fight or argue negatively against you, ignore it and keep contributing! It's the posters who make the community that we have today, not R1CH. (<3 you though R1CH!)

You can always contribute to this thread: http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=100673
Blogs are good too, problem about SC2 forums is that you can write whatever you want but past page 1(or rather past the OP and ~5 posts) noone is going to read your shit(as they will be arguing with each other, so you got to get there fast)
If your good with computers you can go with Tech Support too.
Ow and Liquipedia always wants your help.

If you do not contribute to NaDa's Body thread, you will be deemed a heretic as a poster. Everyone must make 1 pilgrimage to this thread and make a post

If you are worried about bumping a topic always look at the creation date and always look at the post before yours to see what the date is. Better yet, don't look down the list too far and only respond to new topics.
If you are a good person with good intentions and some brains you won't get warned or banned. (Don't say stuff like, I know I'll get banned for this). Also, if you are in an argument with some "idiots" (don't call them that or post it even if you think they are) make sure you back up your statements with good points and always be ready to apologize if you read something wrong and get shit for it. Make sure before you hit the post button that you aren't being an asshole or condescending to the point that mods will pick up on it.
If you aren't into making points and counter points, then just put your opinion out there in a thread with something constructive/well intentioned in it and only respond if someone responds to you. If something does happen, just pm the mod, tell them that you got heated up and that you shouldn't have reacted that way. The mods honestly love to know that their warnings and temp bans make people realize why that isn't the way you should post and if it makes you a better poster then the day is brighter for TL.
Anyway, gl on posting, always be constructive and nice and you won't get banned.
P.S. Newbies love to ask dumb questions in the Strategy Forum, use the Simple Questions, Simple Answers thread in that forum if you want to ask something that you could look up on google.

Damn you and your awesomeness. Damn you to hell.

I don't think that haiku is quite right. Look how Trozz does it.

you just gotta get out there and do it. If you get bogged down worrying about the rules you will never post. Not all your posts are going to be super great but if you have something to add to the conversation it is worth hearing.
I haven't posted a ton either but I find it fun to get your opinion out there on various topics that come out. Here is to more posting in fall '11!

I can relate, I lurked for a good while before jumping in posting blogs, it can seem daunting at first but it really shouldn't. I've run afoul of the rules once with a joke blog, was warned etc, but it was all sorted out as the mods are lovely and reasonable people, so that's the worst case scenario Jump in, have fun I say!
glhf!
