Application Status: OPEN.
Teamliquid is renowned for having one of the most well-disciplined moderation systems on the internet. To an extent, many people criticize TL for having “unfair moderators” and “suppression of freedom of speech.” But those are usually the same people that make shitty posts that nobody wants to read. Now with the recent burst in growth of the TL population, the moderators chose to implement a baneling system, where experienced posters would be able to assist the beleaguered moderators in their cause. But it still seems that very shitty posts are still popping up and often are snowballing to the point that it becomes difficult to delete a terrible thread.
That is where we come in. The TL Volunteer Corps, or VC for short, will step in to right the wrongs of those whom choose to pollute our clean streets and our children with their foul words and lack of reading the commandments. We will not pursue paramilitary measures: instead, we will use the report button, our minds, and in some cases, our trolling skills, in order to help cleanse the heretic and the mutant from our happy horse bastion.
Now I am all too aware how people will abuse the system simply in order to have an excuse for continuing their bad posting habits. Indeed, if I opened membership up to just anybody, it wouldn’t be a very good organization, would it? To that end, in order to join, there are a few requirements that you must fulfill, and even then there will only be a limited amount of positions in order for me to be able to moderate their behavior in reasonable levels.

Must have 1 year posting experience: which is to say, access to the report button.
Must not be a current moderator/baneling.
Must have at least 1000 posts, although leniency can be made for long-time lurkers with less than that.
Must be over the age of 16, unless they are named Pokebunny.
Must have fewer than half of their posts in the SC2 forum. I will count.
Bans do not disqualify you from enrollment, but I will take them into consideration, depending on the nature of the ban.
Must write a short paragraph/essay, posted IN THIS THREAD, explaining why they would be a good fit for the VC and what they will do to bring the wrath of the Moderator on His enemies.

Enrollment in the TLVC will not give you health insurance nor will it give you income or any of the other benefits that come with employment. However, I will award a monthly award of $5 (deliverable by mail) to the person whom has managed to have the highest amount of threads closed due to his/her/it's efforts. To keep track of this, when making a report, VC members should record the time of the report made in a spreadsheet, the report message, and then post the link to the thread next to it. While it may be difficult to prove that participants are not cheating, auditing may or may not be performed. Members that are found to be cheating will be summarily dismissed from the VC and banned from future enrollment.
Members will also be allowed to put a picture of the insignia of the VC, designed by me in 5 minutes with Microsoft Paint, in their profile, and wear it proudly as a defender of TL.

So you want to promote vigilante justice and only allow those who meet your standards by not posting the majority of the time in the sc2 forums.
Either way it is a neat idea to help encourage people to get rid of spammers and trolls, but I cannot tell how serious you are. While amusing I could see the Moderators and TL staff getting annoyed at all of the superfluous reports.
If someone reports 100 posts a day and only 10 have action taken against the poster. A month down the road they have 3000-3100 reports and only 300-310 succesfull reports(but fuck yeah I got $5!). That can be a problem. I could see this plan of action making the banlings and moderators do more work then usual.

Well that makes it a bit better.  I wasn't bashing it, just having fun with you. I like the idea because I already report people and why not have fun while doing it!

I will write this essay, but I am not writing in the fact that I want to join. I do not want to join at all, I just want to write this essay to be the first to write the essay. My essay will include me writing about this very exact post and as to why I don't want to join. Maybe I should just write why I would be the best candidate, but I prefer not too. I may sound a little weird because of this and will probably come off as a sarcastic person, but I don't really care. Caller this thread was written with a lot of effort and I am here to follow your guidelines and make you feel good about yourself. Now my essay finishes. I know I didn't write much, but really? I would be a good fit for VC. I have been here for a year, have a personal connection with you which makes me stand out in your mind, have relished the pleasure in reporting fadoodlemeisters, and most importantly hate all mankind. I will do everything I can to get their thread closed. I will track down people who make bad posts and write them angry letters about why I feel discouraged by their actions. I have been to the B.Net forum Wasteland, I have seen the worst of man.
I have seen SC2 LR threads, I have seen the depressingly hilarious posts made by users.

Getting my button at the end of the month, (but I've reported people before), here's my speech for vigilante justice directed at new members:
I used to be like you, a long time ago... You're all brand new and perfect, no mistakes, no regrets. Members look at you and think how wonderful your future will be. They want you to be something special, like a writer, or a translator. Heh... Hate to tell you this, but if you just came here now, you're more likely to wind up spamming in threads, or writing bullshit in a LR; and if you don't get banned, you'll up your post count writing one-liners and insults. And you won't think twice about making a terrible thread, because you won't even know it's wrong in the first place.
Or maybe... maybe you'll end up like me, a POSTER WITH A REPORT BUTTON.

I think I've only used the report button once, when someone posted TL HQ's actual address.
There are way too many "bad" posts to my liking, and I would honestly find it impossible to browse the forum if I have to make myself be cognizant of the quality of each post.
I'd rather write replies than reports

I would love to join. I've been here for a year, I use my report button regularly, and I barely have any sc2 posts. I am prepared to read sc2 LR threads and I already browse the sc2 strat forum looking for bad threads. Also I play mafia which automatically makes me better than most people here :D. Oh and I already sort of keep track of my reports, it wont be that hard for me to write it down for you. Overall I am highly dedicated to TL and have a desire to make it a better place, I'm not good at Starcraft but I can help to improve the atmosphere.
Knowing you Caller I have a feeling the punchline is just around the corner but if you're not trolling then consider this a serious application.

Hey, I'm DivinO, and I'm a reviewer/editor for Liquipedia (a little over 1k posts mostly in player pages). I've only been banned twice (once early in my career for a stray cool story bro and another I requested because ThorZaIN won TSL3.
Why am I a good fit? Because I find myself arguing over StarCraft but never once have I disrespected the opinions of others while arguing. I can stay cool under pressure and I can respect the opinions of others even when they're not my own. Go on. Check my post history. Also, I don't want money even if I get threads closed or whatever. I just like where you're taking this and want to be a part of it.

Oh and I'm 1-1 against hot_bid and manifesto7 in BW.
only time i got banned was because kennigit was drunk a long time ago. I have never been reported, and all but 1 of my reports have resulted in a ban, unless i said another punishment was better.

I would like to join as well. I am a nice guy but do not tolerate bullcrap, and would like to put my excessive time on this glorious site to use by keeping it a better place. I have requested no fewer than 3 temp bans, but did receive one ban from Harem. This was due to my Stork fanboyism against Shine back when I was young and foolish and posted an image macro. I also meet all of the requirements with the exception of a degree from a higher education institution (the picture in which it was stated also was a joke I think, but meh). I had been lurking TL since around 08 and only got a semi-lurk account towards the end of 2009.

Hi I would like to join.. Its been a while since i've been at TL, and I just lurk around all of the very discussion-heavy threads. And while there are just some people who cant competently write their responses, it just upsets me to have it silently left alone. This is a great idea, and a good start for TL to be cleaner. I would love to volunteer, but if denied, its all chill. (is this a short paragraph?)

I'm not applying, but I feel that at some point in the future (maybe two to three years from now), SC2 posters should be allowed in. Some really do contribute to the community and put forth efforts to moderate.
As for myself, I feel I've got a bit too checkered/brief a history at TL to apply, but you Mods do a decently good job. Keep it up.

This could be a good idea, if you command your core well. Giving out rewards for this kind of thing can lead to a kind of overzealous behavior with that little report button and can cause a headache. I would think that the kind of members that you would want do what you are trying to organize anyway, just without any central leadership or benefits. Its a neat idea though. I usually find when I report a post/thread its already been reported haha.
