Hi all,
Me and a couple of my friends were discussing how we got into gaming and so on...
I was wondering why did you start playing Starcraft II?
Did a friend advise you to play?
Did you continue from Starcraft 1?
Were you in the mood to try a new game?
I'll start, I started because I wanted something different. For about 2 years I have been playing Wow.
Wow is a drug... An awesome drug. But after a while i just got bored.
By the time I got bored of Wow, Starcraft 2 was out.
I never really played any RTS games except Aoe 2.
I gave it a go and I just loved it.
So what about you guys and girls?
Why do you play Starcraft II

When people at my school played it. I thought this game was pretty popular and I had never really played any RTS games before. Thought might be good for me to improve my multitasking skills.

Played BW. Played some more BW. SC2 came out. End of story.

I also do not play Starcraft 2 as it is just too complex a game. Back in BW I could dominate all the way up to the D- level just by being able to execute a solid 9/9/9 proxy gate against zerg, a 9/10 in-base proxy gate against P, and a 10/12 proxy-gate against Terran.
In SC2, there are so many solid counters to this type of play that don't require my opponent to outmicro or outthink me. When I am a better man, I will go back to Starcraft 2 and give it another shot. But alas, I have yet to become a better man.

Played BW forever, discovered TL.net, played more BW, heard about SC2 coming out kinda soon, played SC2 after beta, kinda switched back to BW. Now I just watch SC2 and play BW.

I got an invite to the SC2 beta and tried it out, but I didn't think I would be playing it much. My friend who I sat beside in Physics also got an invite and he encouraged me to play it with him and our mutual friend because they played SC1 together.
Then they taught me to play SC2 and I got hooked, really bad... which is when I discovered TL.net. Now a handful of my friends play as well, some of them introduced to the game by me, but most of them played SC1 previously.

Played WoW and got an invite to the SC2 beta and checked it out. It turned out to be a lot more fun than WoW... XD

Two of my best friends got it. One of them is an old BW player. He made us both get it. I love this game now. Have been playing for about a year.

I played BW on and off, got really into it in the last 1-2 years before SC2 beta. got an invite and played my placements, but my laptop can only play the game on low between 40-70fps and would overheat terribly after a while, haven't played the game since. if i could justify buying a new computer with actual dedicated graphics i would probably start playing it, but college+poverty is a bitch

I thought people said SC2 was easier that BW. I was thinking of getting it so I can win more since im sick of get assraped on ICCUP in BW, I just wanna win more lol. Now you got me thinking

I only started playing so I'd have something to do while my school was on strike. Now that it's over, I have literally nowhere to play without getting made fun of almost constantly.
Also Protoss is kinda sexy and sleek looking, you know?

I kind of know how you feel, Alot of my class are ignorant. I'd say *Starcraft is an awesome game if you'd give it a chance* The response would be *Gay, Starcraft? Get a life loser* Alot of people just don't understand

I simply play Starcraft because it's basically a new kind of challenge for me. Took me a lot of effort on my part to even save up the money I needed just to buy the damn game.

Blizzcon 2008 led to a beta invite. Once the beta started, I found out that Day[9] went to my college and started following the dailies. A year and a half later, here I am.

That is exactly what happens to me. They then say that AoE and TotalWar are automatically infinitely better. I have no doubt that they're good games, but just because they suck at Starcraft they think it's because of the game, not because they didn't give it a go.
I joined Starcraft since BroodWar, found it in a shop for $15 in '06 and figured why not. I joined the starcraft commuuuunitey when starcraft 2 beta began.
