This will be a short blog post but because my day has bee short so far and there is still half a day for the rest of my shit to get completely ruined.... I went to bed this morning at 3am, happy, but tired, eager to get some sleep. I had just finished some work I had to do and had just checked my email (at 3am). As I woke up, everything was normal and I was just about to log into yahoo to see how much viagra spam I have and if 1 out of the 50 emails was actually useful to me in anyway. This was halted by an Incorrect Id or Password message that Yahoo confronted me with. The message was simple, and led me to doing a couple things:
1. Was my Caps locks on perhaps? No.
2. Was my keyboard set to a different language perhaps? No.
3. Had I mistyped? No.
So it led me to panic and I eventually called Yahoo to be greeted by an Indian man who promised to help me. The conversation went as so after a roughly 20 minute wait and the common greeting:
Can you spell out your name for me?
I responded with the correct answer and the follow-up which was, "What was my email?"
Now, yahoo has only one verification method if you get hacked... What was your security question? Don't get me wrong, I made a huge blunder... I was like 12 when I made this account so I did the obvious "If i click year what year will I pick first?" and maybe it landed on the early 60's or 70's, I don't know. It didn't matter because their only verification method was a security question that I couldn't have remembered anyway.
Even though it didn't make a difference, I had entered something completely random as you could tell how I felt when he said:
You will be prompted with your security question to which you must provide an answer to. If not, you can call back with a short list of answer (in broken english):
The question is:
"Where did you go to on your honeymoon?"
My heart instantly dropped trying to explain that I was not married, or close to being married, and the answer was most likely along the lines of: dhgdjagvcba
I will now reformat my computer to avoid the inevitable viagra charges to my paypal or clothing spam on my TL account..
