Toss 250! Terran 250! Zerg 750!

bri9and United States246 Posts July 07 2011 16:39 GMT #1 I think that all of my off-racing has really been enjoyable, but it has left me stuck in Platinum division.. I played over 1500 games of beta, mostly random, and wanted to get Zen Master on my retail account.. What a massive undertaking! I Finally got my toss 250 last night and I'm asking myself, what am i doing?! I really want to be diamond, but i can't stop offracing long enough to do it.. If I played Zerg 100% I'm confident I would be diamond, but is it worth it? I get bored and want to try the other races.. I'm decent, but definately only Platinum level with the other two.. Does anyone else have this "problem"? I know most Pros stick to one race and play it 24/7, but I'm not sure I can do that non-stop.. What is everyone elses thoughts on this? I know I'm not alone..

Mattchew United States5684 Posts July 07 2011 16:44 GMT #2 I'm in plat because of off racing random and zerg... i was in diamond and winning a lot as protoss but wanted to switch it up... I guess you could get a new acct to just play zerg on?

dbosworld United States317 Posts July 07 2011 16:58 GMT #5 I don't think pro's play their main race 24/7. I know that a lot of pro's play offrace to stay intouch with what the other races are doing.

Tatari United States1179 Posts July 07 2011 17:01 GMT #6 ST_Squirtle offraces as Terran from what I've seen through streams, HuK's commented that MC's Zerg looks OP'd, CatZ plays as Terran/Protoss once in a while, and in that recent MLG interview with IdrA he commented that he dicks around with his teammates by playing Protoss. I've also tried offracing to get a feel of what the other races are thinking of in different situations vs my race (P).

LovE- United States1963 Posts July 07 2011 17:14 GMT #7 I bought a new acct "for practice" and ended up placing into diamond and then getting to Masters with it. (I was already masters on my main acct.) Then decided I wanted to learn toss, so I used that acct to play toss. Continued to stay in masters. Then I decided to learn zerg, again, played several games ~25, and stayed masters. So I don't think offracing is as big of a deal as people think it is. But if you want to truly go up, then just go with your most understood race, and for you that's zerg.

I knew that if I just switched over to Terran on my Protoss account I would rage hard, get discouraged, and go back to Protoss. I really needed to work my way up with Terran to build confidence and a good foundation. I dl'ed a bunch of reps, read a bunch of strat guides, and just grinded out games. I made it back to masters in a week and a half or so.

I guess I haven't ever decided what I want to do.. advance up the ladder or have fun.. some days I want to advance, others I just want to have fun. I also feel that given the fact that I've had SOOOO many games, advancing to diamond may be impossible for my account.. I've been 300-400 pts ahead of people in my division and its not from Ladder Pool, I play every day and never let it get over 1 days accumulation. I see guys with like 7 wins in 1v1, in diamond.. and get ticked off.. I've had 15 game winstreaks as zerg and have not been promoted once.. I sometimes think that my account might be bugged or something as its basically forever platinum.
