Hello my fellow TL dwellers. I have a problem.
For the past many years, i have been a victim of a very big problem, terrible internet. My max download speed is 25kb/s, which is outrageous and totally unacceptable. For this time I have thought that my only choice was my current isp of windstream, but to be honest I am to my last nerve with how bad this internet is with it being 2011 and such, so now this brings me to the real topic of the blog.
Does anyone know of an isp I could use (I'm American by the way)? I don't get any cable or dsl besides my current isp, so really I'm pigeon-holed into very few options. The only wireless options I have heard of are clear wireless, which does not quite reach my area, and verizon, which has ridiculous bandwidth restrictions. Does anyone know of other wireless options that there may be that I just haven't found/thought of yet?
As a very last resort I suppose I could try satellite, but stories have been told of the horrific latency that comes with satellite internet. Is it as unbearable as these real life scary stories say it is?
Any and all suggestions are welcome, and as for pricing, I'm going to be pretty lenient with that as long as it is nothing totally outrageous.

I know there are some services where you address latency by contacting the SAT ISP with dsl, and then downloading. Or so I've been told. I'll look into it.

Yeah the latency is bad when using satellite, but recent products are using techniques to reduce that latency a lot. I don't know how bad it will be for SC2, but it's certainly good enough to watch youtube, browse TL... It's even good enough to use skype.
http://www.newtec.eu/products/broadband-systems/sat3play/ is a company that sells consumer satellite broadband (price = €300 + €20-30 per month). They usually sell their products through other companies I think.

hmm, well that sounds promising. i mean if the latency is at least consistant with my current internet then i think i would definitely make the switch. what really bugs me is the inconsistancy and inability to load anything at a reasonable speed. i guess if someone had a ping guestimate for satellite internet then that would be gravy~

To be honest mine is like 10x faster than you but im still pissed at it. Like the only settings i can stream in look like a gameboy color. DSL ftl
