I played more starcraft today than I have in any other single day.

A total of 17 (or 19) matches, going 12-5 (maybe 12-6 or 13-6 or something) vs mostly diamond players (i'm in plat) on my quest to make diamond. And of course I don't get it :[

Ladder is now locked and I leave for new york on the 6th (go figure I'm watching GSL and playing SC2), so I can't really play sc2 for another week. Not that its a terrible thing, just that well, bleh. :[.

so disappointing :[. A lot of my losses were just me being stupid and it pisses me off :\

the worst part is that im not really macroing that well and i still win the games D: i dont really understand but meh. is ladder really the best way to practice O-o. id rather just play a bunch of practice games honestly

It just kinda upsets me

I'm just so sad today. But blowing stuff up all night was fun, i guess.

i'm quite proud that i forced myself to play multiple games though. Usually I just play 1 or 2 matches, and when i win one I kinda just stop playing and leave to play LoL or something else. However I really wanted that diamond! maybe next season I'll get it. bleh. At least I ended on a win :D

after losing to the same guy twice; once to some weird scv marine thor banshee tank medivac allin off one base O_O. fuck terran. and the second cause i was stupid and 4 gated and fucked up.

I remember I lost to a zerg because of a ling runby right after I had killed his army. I should have just fucking killed him T_T

I lost 2 pvps due to stupid. or maybe 3. 1 because i did a later 1 base collosus -> expand and had less shit, 2 more because i just played bad. ugh. losing kinda pisses me off when I know i can play at that level at least D:

but I won more than lost in the end :D

mvp messed up my liquibet! i fell like 200 spots into 300thish

i was so in the running until this morning.

I'm in platinum facing about half diamond players too.
Getting the shining blue rock in season three is a must for me.
I placed into platinum during the beta and have honestly not improved very much.

To answer your question: is ladder the best way to practice?
Well if you, like me, are not participating in any tournaments then the ladder is going to be the tournament we compete in to feel accomplished.
The best way to climb the ladder and get better at what you face on it is to play it.
BUT it is not the best way to improve on one aspect of your game.
You say that you feel like your macro isn't so hot.
I used to play against an ezmode computer and run though my build till i was maxed a few times in a row.
This helps you with warp-gate cool-down/colossus/void-ray timing becuase your not really microing or scouting to urgently.

So basically if you want to improve one aspect of your game,
play that part over and over again where you know you will be able to do so uninterrupted.
but your going to want to ladder eventually and the best way to be better against those opponents is to play them over and over again.
Then you learn their timings and generally multitasking.

Aww that sucks, I was going to make a push for diamond too but felt like I wouldn't get it since it took me so many wins to get from gold to plat.

And I know how you feel, sometimes I also think that I only lost due to my own mistakes rather than the opponent being better than me. If you want to practice against a plat zerg for season 3, send me a PM!

i have played 50 hours for the past 3 weeks of starcraft 2....just saying i played alot too
