So I am sure some of you heard about the MetroElectronics Tournament being a total fake. With about 1000$ in prizes, and also holding a contest to choose their potential casters, it all seemed pretty legit. But with sixjaxDDE winning the tournament, the admins were no where to be found... The announcement for who won the casting gig was to be announced later that night, but that as well was no where to be found. Unfortunately this promising tournament ended up being nothing more then a sham.
We need to some how set in place a standard verification process to eliminate potential fakes such as that. These fakes hurt E-Sport and further the preconcieved notion that E-Sport isn't to be taken seriously. People put their time into practising for the tournament, and playing through the rounds, but have nothing to show for it besides their dissappointment.
Luckily something good has come from this weekend for myself, as I am potentially going to be a resident caster for a new StarCraft 2 team. Their are deciding whether they will have seperate division so that their casters have a easier time getting out there, and getting casting gigs, or if they just want to keep exclusivity of their casters.
Hopefully this good comes out of the bad of the fake tournament :D
PS I will be starting up a show every weekend morning where I will be playing through a new game on my channel, so check it out. (already played through BioShock 2).
