Better web (so close but so far) & Korea & more

I had been thinking about switching to sonic.net for DSL. I called them at midday today, and the response was "they're taking out the local DSL stations, the max speed you can get is 768kbps.

That was surprising: I knew my neighbor had 1.5kbps. Sort of confusing.

Turns out AT&T is trying to switch everyone to their new cable service. So they removed some local stuff.

In any case, a (gasp) nice AT&T employee came to my door today. Pretty much begged us to switch. Soooo, my mom had me talk to him.

After a bit of bartering, we went all AT &T, dropping our comcast TV. This is how negotiations worked.

"minimum 3mbps internet, one TV, no HD, and 200 minutes phone for $70/month"

Then I retorted I could get a better deal on internet via sonic.net. SO I got upgraded to 6mbit for free.

Then I said we were getting all of our comcast tvs for 18/month, and we had 3. He had me show him the bill, I did, so he lowered the pricing on that too.

Then I said we had HD. (not sure why we do, we aren't paying for it, but whatever)

Then for phone, I didn't give a shit. So that was fine.

After taxes it's $12 (more like 18, was wrong in initially estimation) more per month, but we get 50 more channels on TV

WOOT 3/1, instead of .75/.38 :DDDDDDDDDD

I SHALL STREAM (and watch multiple streams )

So spontaneously, after I had written what is now part 4, my mom was like “I’M THINKING THAT”S NOT A GOOD DEAL” It took a fair bit of convincing to get her to take it initially.
So let me break down her complaints. Maybe it’s just that I’m for lack of a better word FUCKING SICK OF 768kbps internet that cuts in and out.
So right now we spend $18/month for cable. We get maybe 30 channels, because our local transmission station sucks, so they can’t limit us more. (we are only supposed to have 9)
We spend $20/month on 768kbps SHInternet. Hahaha.
We spend another $20 for phone service. I don’t really give a shit. I never use the landline. My mom and dad (literally) have no friends they talk to. So that comes out to like 60/month.
However, the guy that came thought we spent more so he made a deal for $78/month+7% tax = 84/month. BUT it is a promotional thing we have to renew every 6 months or the price goes to 145. YEAH. THE PRICE IS NORMALLY 145. My mom maintains it’s a shit deal, because we’re spending another 250 a year. But I don’t see it. We get 3mbps internet. She said it’s another 23/month, but in all honesty, getting 3mbps for 35 a month is the best we can do. And getting a bunch more TV stations for only $8/month is a good deal. GAAAAH. SHE IS GOING TO CANCEL IT TOMORROW (((((((((((((((((((((((((((( WHYYYYYYYYY. I want reasonable internet ;(((((((( She says we should get the Comcast internet. But that is the 28/month 1.5 download.
I know AT&T sucks, I guess we should go to sonic.net, but (((( We even got DVRs

I'm going to try and call the guy and get him down more, but my mom is worried that they won't renew us at the promotional rate.

I went to the fair today. (More later) Anyways, we saw an Abba tribute abracadabra. It sucked lol. They couldn't sing, and were excited by the smallest tamest crowd ever. Seeing this lame crowd made me think that I"d never been to a legitimate concert. Only local failgroups, filled with 50 year old men, and 70 year old retirees. So what is a legitimate concert like?

This county fair is the only profitable one in the state. In fact, it is a for profit venture. There is no livestock, and no fairlike stuff. Just concessions, and cheesy shows. However, when looking at an exhibition, I saw 3 drawings by the same person of this Kim Hyun-Jeung. It was quite hilarious, because he looked so korean hip. This old lady walked up to the picture and said "what a pretty asian girl" Lol.

Korea is cool. Reading davesesl café makes me think that there is hope in the world.

Reading rekrul’s blog makes me think there is nothing but pessimism and soju.
But anyways, took chill’s (always wonderful) advice and enrolled in a local community college course. I don’t know how much I’ll actually learn, but it was only 21 dollars >.> I’ll keep on learning it, and might stream my rantings. Hehe.
