I finally got my first really well paying job this summer and immediately went out and built a great computer with my first pay check and it's the greatest feeling ever. Up until now I'd been doing everything on the shittiest computers ever. Sometimes you gotta suffer to appreciate things | ||

I do indeed realize that I am spoiled (I have a DS, an iPod, and a computer that could "run" Starcraft...). I guess I don't feel content enough. I live in Canada, the only jobs really is volunteering and you don't get paid for that (I might have to do some of that). I'll try what you did, although I don't really study anyways (Ace the tests without studying :D) And as I stated 6 times now, money is not the problem. Divinek, I hope you're right, cause I don't think they're changing their mind anytime soon. | ||

You are 14, your main focus is school, not that you can't play but hundred of games in a week or two is too much. I play around 30 games a month and I am last year in college. If you are sure you are not gonna playing games for all day, keep acting good and your parents will eventually let you. Or you can quit SC2 for a month, so your parents will see that you want to buy a new PC for educational purpose  . Then switch right back in lol. | ||

i was stuck in the same situation as you a few years ago, stuck with a mediocre PC and i wanted to get a better one. so, i basically tried all your methods and they all failed. in the end though, i managed to convince my parents with a decent proposal of some sort. basically, you have to convince your parents that you are mature enough to handle the new PC and your schoolwork at the same time. show that you are a mature person by being more active in family activities, engaging in more meaningful conversations with your parents, and work your way from there. i managed to get my PC only after a month of persuasion, so dont give up yet. what my suggestion would be is to draft up a proposal, stating clearly the reasons why you can, and should get a new PC. you dont have to lie or cheat your way through, just tell them straight up that its for gaming mainly. however, you have to convince them that you can manage your time really well and not "spend too much time on the computer". i admit i spend >6 hours on the PC each day, but i balance it out with a decent social life, plus i spend quite a bit of time on sports too. all in all, you should show your parents that you're not going to be some nerd holed up in your room all day when you get your shiny new PC. get out there, and make an ATTEMPT to have a life outside of the PC. you may not like it, but hey, you'll get that PC.
