I played WoW for a looooong time, raided and cleared pretty much every tier of content(except late vanilla and Sunwell) up to cataclysm, PvP'd at a decent level (2300 peak). Cataclysm really disappointed me, and I quickly got bored at it's dumbing down of the game, and how easy the raiding was. Wrath was easy don't get me wrong but I played through it expecting better in Cataclysm. The game just began to bore me. A good amount of people I played with quit after cata's release and so i followed them. Me and my friend were doing 2s in January and we finished a game:
Me: Yo i'm kinda bored Friend: Same, this game sucks Me: lol we should quit Friend: yeah
That's pretty much how it happened lol (as best as I can remember).
Anyway, lately, that friend of mine has began playing again. Casually at first (Just leveling my Lock nice and slow through nice vanilla zones). Barely 1 week later and his new Lock is 85 and he is asking if I wanna come back. The thing is, that game took up so much of my life, and for the last year or so of playing it felt more like a chore, something I woud play for 6 hours a day because I had to, not because it was fun. Since I quit, I've had so much more time to do other stuff (like make 300 posts in last week :O). I don't expect advice or anything, I just decided to blog this because I felt like it :S
Also, a pic!

StarCraft is better. Play it instead!

I love the GM's that have a sense of humor in WoW. Makes it fun to put in tickets, which I did constantly

Never played wow, heard it was popular in china tho o.o

lol that GM is awesome. But NO, don't do it! It's not worth it, it's never worth it! If you're having WoW urges, just wait for one of Blizzard's eventual "X free days!" events that they make to hook people back in, get all those WoW urges out, and you'll remember why you became bored with the game. That's how I cope with my desires to go back.

Wait until Diablo 3 and then come back to this topic and laugh.

Eh, don't go back. Even if you enjoy yourself for a while it'll turn into "this game feels like a chore" again.
That's the major problem with all MMOs, there's not a whole lot of "new shit" going on anymore, which is why I think EVE is the only MMO I really enjoy anymore - it's just so different and unique, and once you learn it, it's a lot of fun.

The game is just as boring as when you left. Trust me. I still get dragged on to play it every few weeks or so with co-workers/friends etc. The game just isnt as fun as it used to be, unless you're an ubercasual. Game is even more imbalanced than it was in wrath, PvE was decent but ofc people started crying and they nerfed the shit out of that too.
I pretty much quit a week after cata came out and only looked back to see if anything changed in 4.1.

Nah don't do it man. PvP is in an even worse state now. It's just not worth it to play WoW anymore. Stick to SC2

Noway, if you're into PvP I know a really active + popular private server (not sure if I'm allowed to link it here, so PM me and i'll send you the link!) which is free to play, TBC and WotLK

World of Walking? Sounds like fun

My experience with MMOs is that at first you play the game, and then it becomes a place to hang out with your online buddies, and then people you know start leaving the game and by this time you can't be bothered to make new buddies. I don't really think there is a way back once this happens, you just got to find a new game.
I've given up on MMOs since they are just a massive time sink. Competitive online games are more challenging and interesting to me these days.

"Thinking of Playing WoW Again" -> That's unfortunate. If you have to ask others whether you should play it or not, you obviously have the inclination to do so. Imo, no game should feel like a chore, I usually quit games before they get to that point. That's probably why I don't play RPGs, but I think its a decent life choice.
EDIT: Oh yea HAPPY 600 to me!

Unless you have plenty of friends who can make the game feel unique and exciting againDO NOT DO THIS, as I had friends but they experience was not as unique and exciting as I had hoped. It was very ununique and unexciting.
ALSO you're managing the Sub-Forum Tournament and if that falls through because of WoW I will be extremely dissapoint.

Only go back if you have friends to play with and you just do things that make it fun for you. Want to get back into the PvP scene for a bit with friends? Could be a lot of fun. So many people say "WoW was a chore" I myself never had that problem, even in Vanilla when I was a hardcore raider I Loved every min of it because I was in a guild that was awesome (being #1 horde pvp and pve also didn't hurt) but when that dried up and fun things ended I simply quit. Now a days I just play on and off to collect some thing I like (mounts/pets/items etc) and simply don't do dungeons or raids anymore because I don't have anyone to play with and I really don't want to cultivate relationships in the game anymore.

Don't do it man, it hasn't become better, and nothing so boring makes you deliberately throw away so much time. Except for work maybe, but at least that gets you some money
|
whenever I load up my WoW for the 7 days free thing my anti virus finds something within the downloader to quarantine....it's kinda strange
|
I've done it multiple times, you get the urge to play again remembering all the good memories then you go back and realize it's all the same and you end up in the same boredom. The fun feeling usually runs out after 1-2 weeks and realize it's the same game that you wanted to quit.
