At 1:58 and 2:10 a.m. last night, I received phone calls from a certain number. At the time, I was playing LoL and getting ready for GSL, so I didn't pick up my phone until about 3:00. I had the following messages:
College Age Male Voice:
Hi Jack, I'm a member of the Jewish Defense League here at Auburn University. You might think that there aren't a lot of incidents, but there are, and they've gotten more violent lately, including one that involved a lot of fecal matter... We could really use someone of your stature to help fight the injustices. My name is Jane Dick, yes thats my real name, my parents were crazy when they made me, so shoot me an email alright? Thanks.
I'd never heard of this or anything but w/e, he knew a fair bit about me, that I'm Jewish, that I go to Auburn, my name and number... So I saved it and moved on to the next message (from the same number)
College Age Male Voice:
SUCK MY DICK NIGGER
Same number. So now I know that the first call was a load of shit as well. I call back the number, and a "Dr. James Madison" picks up (same guy with an obviously fake Indian Accent). I ask why I got 2 calls from this number, and play like I haven't heard the messages yet. I ask how he got my number, he says "it was written in shit on my bathroom floor, did you get any messages I don't remember if I left any." I say I'll go listen, hang up, do a bit of research, its a 414 Area Code (idiot didn't even *67 his call), which is Wisconsin.
I call back, and forcibly ask him how he got my number. When he plays Dr. again, I tell him he needs to tell me or I'll tell the cops. He hangs up.
I call back, and leave a message:
Me:
I've recorded every message and conversation we've had. You have 12 hours to tell me how you got my number, or I turn this over to the police and have you arrested for harassment.
I get a call back 5 minutes later.
Him: What did I do?
Me: The calls you've made to me qualify as a Class C misdemeanor, but since you brought religion and race into this it gets bumped up to a hate crime - much more serious. How did you get my number?
What, I didn't-
I don't have patience for your shit. Now, how did you get my number?
Dude, I don't want any trouble
Then you'll tell me how you found it, or I'll turn over all this to the police. You'll be arrested, and definitely kicked out of school.

At this point, forcing him to tell me the top image on the thread, I hopped onto /b/ and tried to find it just to see what info of mine was posted. It had already 404'd though.
I let him go, and warned him not to try this shit again.
Here's the biggest problem. This comes right after I went to College Orientation. And the Counselors/staff are the only ones who know my name, number, college, and religion. I mean, other than close friends and family, no one knows all that. So the poster on 4chan had to have been a Camp War Eagle staff member. I can't narrow it down farther than that.
I expected that living in Alabama, I'd find some people like that. And I can deal with them. But for fucks sake, I don't even go to Auburn yet.
Is it worth bringing up to the administration? I'm just kind of in shock that this happened so soon.

I'm really sad to say this but 4chan is 4chan man you can't know who it was. happened to a friend of mine and he just changed his number quick.
I wouldn't bring it up right now but if it happens again then yes. You handled it all a lot better then I would.

Holy shit, you know how to bring it to punks who mess you around, and absolutely bring it up with administration, it can't hurt, and no one in those sorts of positions has any right to spew out your details to anyone.

If you make waves, odds are the guilty party won't be found and they'll cause the next batch to be worse. You're probably better off just dealing with it the way you already did.

I actually feel a little bad for the kid who called because he's not the origin.
Not bad enough that I wouldn't do the exact same thing again though.

That's crazy man. I'm getting ready to start my third year at Auburn, and I can't believe any of the counselors or administration would do something like that. Most people around here are really good people. But yeah, bring it up with administration for sure. I know they would try to help you figure it out.

Man, screw that punk-ass kid and everyone like him - I think you should call his local police department. Maybe tell them you don't want to press charges but would at least appreciate them calling him or his parents if he is under 18. Police in Wisconsin can't have a whole lot of better things to do - fighting yetis? monitoring the Canadian threat? - and it will at least teach him not be a dick. Kids, think they're invincible hiding behind a computer or a telephone.
I also think it would be a good idea to notify the administration. It won't help you at all, like you said, but in the future if someone (maybe even you) brings a similar complaint, there will at least be a record of it happening before. Also, if the person who did it hears that it got back to the school, it might scare them into not trying the same thing again. So, it is really very little trouble for you but could end up helping someone down the road.
Of course, it could also just be some other punk you went to high school with.

If someone with power like that is abusing it, it definitely needs to be addressed, this could happen to someone else and the problem could spread. there is very unlikely to be any paper trail. they will not figure out who did it. this will paint a huge target on his head, especially considering it isn't necessarily someone from the school

My bet is on close friends or family setting you up. The other people don't know you enough to care to be honest. Might not sound believable but chances are it's a prank gone wrong rather than someone trying to do you harm (the posting on 4chan, the idiot that called is another matter entirely).

I've thought about this all day, and I think I'm going to go to the administration. I know they can't find whoever posted this, but there needs to at least be a record that it happened. Thanks for your support guys

Notifying the administration would be a very bad idea, they likely do not understand what you are telling them (other than that every 4channer is an evil powerful hacker with government-ending powers ...................) and you do not know for certain that whoever leaked your personal data came from their administration.
Sorry that this happened to you, but you seemed to handle it well. Just move on and if it happens again change your number or something.
