So, as some of you may have heard, I am going to Korea. FXO as an entire team is going even! Now I have to plan a "celebration" for if I do manage to win even a single game. Because if I do, for me that would be huge. Koreans have always seemed larger then life to me as always.

So, if I do manage to take down a giant somehow in Korea, what do you think would be a good celebration for me? I'm thinking about a few things....

A. I could go over and apologize in Korean and thank them for allowing me to play them.

B. I could go over to the person I beat, and offer to buy him some supper and some alcohol after the event.

C. I could have a gift bag ready for everyone I do defeat, however then I might simply have extra gift bags left over...

D. I could look up where they live in the Yellow Pages and after the match go over there and tell him how awesome he played and try and help him improve however I can.

E. Perhaps I could whip my hair back and forth...

Let me know your thoughts !

D would be such a douche move

B & C sound like match fixing

E sounds good, it's entertaining and doesn't involve your opponent. Do some form of FBH-style antics

This is exactly what I wanted to suggest. Just act like FBH. Maybe just go and skip/dance around the other guy's booth.

Your options are far too nice. Make them angry, go upto them and give them a big thumbs down, MC style! Show em you mean business.

Doesn't have to involve apologising or showing off lol, just do something cool for the fans even - don't have to involve the other team.

PS. FBH is a boss.

Someone from korea please confirm, but wouldn't this be considered very rude in korean culture (the whole act of going over to person you just beat)? I mean I know Jinro came to MC after beating him in GSL groups, but that's because they're good friends.

To be honest I don't see any "celebration" in your options except of E.

If you want to be nice, I'd suggest you to give them a gift BEFORE the match. This is how we do it in board game I play. When I participated in World championship, I gave everyone before a game a bottle of best czech beer.

I also think good "celebration" if you lose would be to congratulate the winner. People are doing it in every sport, even chess, but I've never seen someone doing it in starcraft (maybe except of no.1 baller White-Ra), It's very classy to show you're able to accept defeat imo.

Get a fake keyboard, hide it under your desk, and then when you win, leave the booth, go over to the opposing team bench and break it with your knee.

well I just came up with an idea if you wanted to do a classic bm celebration (sometimes the other team starts the bm and you just can't be nice). Point at their team/the player you just beat and puff out a candle :D

Or option F, grab a chair from the audience, take a pipe and sunglasses out of your pockets, sit down on the chair, facing your opponent, proceed to insert the pipe in your mouth and put on the glasses. Act smug as fuck.

Success.

EDIT: Alternatively, option E, while saying, "I WHIP MY HAIR, BACK AND FORTH!". Do this only in the Team League.

Should do something like this.

Make it like Sheth vs Korean name and then the loser's name gets striked through like above with a sad or happy face :D

Whatever you do don't do any of those things, from what I've read even going over to your opponent after he has lost (unless you know him very well) is a huge insult and the equal to a westerner gloating in victory. Giving them gifts etc. would probably be taken as real insults :D

Just try to bow and be nice before the game or something I guess :o

Wondering if you could comment sheth, a lot of people feel that for your team to move on, you will have to do most the work, as it seems to the community you are by far the best player on your team. How do you feel about that?

Also, if it's true, and you gotta take 2-4 games yourself, I hope the rest of your team mates are practicing for very specific players and maps each ^-^.

Don't worry about celebrations until you have a rival.
Just be thankful that you have this chance. Why bother yourself with such folly anyway? You think your Korean opponent is thinking about celebrations?

Do something nice to them.

You are in Korea, a foreign place and all though they support you guys being their, they all want to see you destroyed. So when you win, if you showboat and gloat and essentially insult them all, they will disapprove even more. If you do something, it has to be something nice, if you beat an idol, bring them a gift, if you beat a legend, bow and thank them, etc.

I think you should definitely play homage to FBH for changing how one views victory ceremonies. If it weren't for him KeSPA would have never banned such beautiful displays.

Hell, put a spin on things. If you lose you should do something too! Be a pioneer.

Here's something you could do:

Hold up a cheerful saying something along the lines of, "Thank you KeSPA for ruining victory ceremonies!" and do a thumbs up and then you can give it to someone in the crowd.

That would make you a true baller.

Or bust out the boombox, turn it up really loud as your walking out. Have Run DMC "It's like that" playing and start dancing.

You could always take off your pants and jacket. That would work too.

OR

grab your chair, bring it outside of the booth like MC did and pretend your fishing. All the sudden something grabs your line and you can hold up a sign saying, "OHHHHHH I CAUGHT A BIG ONE!"

Patent pending, patent pending.

Go up to their booth, punch through the glass, rip that nerds heart out of their chest and show it to them.

Seriously though, if you do win against a big player, I'd just be humble about it. Shake their hand and tell them that you enjoyed playing with them or something along those lines.

Congratulations on being able to go to Korea, you're one of the top Foreign Zergs, which says a lot when you look at how well some of the foreign Zergs have done in Korea, so I'm sure you'll do well.

I wouldn't recommend doing a celebration unless you are really into it otherwise it looks so forced and fake - see HuK's for examples

I think you should do what Losira did vs Alicia in the last Code S tournament, he went to his booth and bowed. That's both pretty badass and respectful I think.
This post is clearly not a hurr, as you can see from the graph, the durr never intersects with the derp.

I see Sheth as nothing other than a gentleman as such doing the gentlemanly thing and going over and giving them a few words of praise or whatever in Korean should suffice.
Anna: So Sen how will you prepare for your revenge v MC? Sen: With a smile.

Do a Boxer style enter booth handshake

Anything else would be stupid.

Option E is reserved for iNcontrol, option B is bad because many of the Koreans are kids and alcohol is errr ... option C might be nice if you have any regional specialties from home, but I would think you already have enough baggage to fly, option E is condescending and not really your style. So the only real option is A with the handshake in the booth. Sure that wont sit well with all the WWF kiddies who want a huge show and whatnot, but making yourself ridiculous just to appease some youngsters for 0.5 secs isnt worth it IMO. Just do whatever you think will give a good impression to the Koreans ...

Bring out the FBH VODs!

Or you could do some Chef-themed ceremony like you are cooking them (or cooking something for them)!

Have your manager bring a stereo to the studio. Then after you win, blast SNSD singing "gee gee baby baby" and dance to it. (make sure to pre-load the song ahead of time, cuz u want start to out with the gee gee not the beginning korean stuff). Even better if you can coordinate with John so they can turn down the music/sound while you do it.

I thought that the loser in Korea is typically left alone, and that bothering them in anyway would be BM unless you were on good terms with them.

Handshaking should be alright though.

I've been considering the concept of a totally new celebration for some time, and I think it's time to unveil it.

The Meta-Celebration:

During the late nineties, I discovered a celebration so daring, so outlandish, that no progamer would ever attempt it. It implies a level of preparation so far in advance of the reasonable as to utterly humiliate the recipient, presenting an piece of in-game BM outside the game itself.

In it's purest form, this ties in with some in-game celebration, such that you should build a creep-tumor heart. Once the game has ended, however, you approach the opponent's booth, open the door, and just as you appear to be giving them the Boxer in-booth handshake, you instead hand them a t-shirt with an image of the creep-tumor heart centred on the chest, and in a bold black text below,

"Sheth Creep-Tumored my Heart"

Grown men will weep. I imagine you will receive your telephone call from Time to be their man of the year within the hour.

Yeah, I think doing something funny but not rude would be good. It's great that you're not buying into the whole BM ceremony thing :3

1) Handing out gift bags would be HILARIOUS--put in a target with your target with you face on it or something ROFL
2) Do something really, really stereotypically American as people have said! Maybe do that Yosemite Sam impersonation, or take out a fake gold chain, put it on your neck, put on sunglasses, and do a "gangsta pose"! Or put on a garish Uncle Sam hat...!
3) Throw a random surprise birthday party for each person you beat! :D

GLHF~

Put on sunglasses. Wipe your hands and lean back in your chair.

Or

1. Sunglasses
2. Sharpie
3. Photograph

Put on sunglasses. Sign Photograph with sharpie and smack it on the booth wall and point at it.

Whatever you do. Wear sunglasses. Got to stomp in style.

Most of your suggestions seem way over the top to me o.O I'll explain my thoughts a little on each of them =)

A.
Nonono NEVER apologize for winning in a competition. That is not proper behaviour. When you win you need to stand proud so that they can feel okay about losing to you. And allowing you to play is not their decision, so don't give them credit when they aren't responsible :p

B.
They probably want to hang out with their own teammates and friends though, don't you think?

C.
This sounds very strange, I've never heard of a competitor giving gifts to the people he defeats :S Could also be interpreted as pity.

D.
This would just be plain creepy :p Chances are he doesn't think he played awesome (most people don't when they lose). This would also very likely be interpreted as pity.

E.
Yes, this is a good move. Also, do a toned down version of the earlier ones by going over, look them in the eyes and shake their hands. If you want to show respect I reckon this is the best way to do it. In your alternatives the actions could either be interpreted as you belittling them directly or indirectly by belittling yourself, the guy who beat them. A handshake with a straight back shows respect both for yourself and the opponent.

Anyway, just my thoughts on the matter. Thank you for being awesome, and I hope you get to do a lot of ceremonies in Korea! =)

So i dont want to insult you, but your ideas dont seem fitting at all. They arent really celebrations and if i were the losing player in a competition and someone came over to me right after the loss, no matter what the competition and no matter what he would say, i would not be in a better mood. If you really a the nice guy people are saying, you should try not to insult them and at the same time try to show off a little bit of your charackter.

So how about you wear a "I heart Korea" T-Shirt. Hide it and after a win show it to the cameras and show your respect towards them this way. I think for your first time it would be harmless, friendly and respectfull ceremony.

Most important thing though is, ceremonies in general should fit the charackter of the player. MC is cocky and he overemphesises this aspekt of his "known personality" during his ceremonies.

wow after working 12h and drinking my english sucks more than usual ^-^

Fill your mouth with water then run onto the stage and slide on your knees then spit the water everywhere in like a mist.

EDIT: Get a shirt with the opponents face on it then after you win rip the shirt Hulk Hogan style.

I wouldn't interact so personally with the player you defeat. From the games I've seen, Koreans seem to get pretty fucking upset when they lose, so it might be rude to go up to them. Doing something for the crowd would be cool, but don't go up to the player.
