First and foremost I want to thank you all for being just plain awesome. The vast majority of you are some of the coolest people around. You all make up the best online community around, and for that you deserve the best content around.
With the end of the school year comes summer, and with that is a lot of free time. I’ve been fairly involved with the community since september of last year, moderating, playing, helping with whatever I can, but I haven’t had as much time as I wish I did to contribute as much as possible. Now I have time to give back to the community I love so dearly. When I was thinking about what I wanted to do I came across many posts complaining about how this person isn’t a good caster or that person isn’t doing what they should. I couldn’t help but wonder what exactly do you want?
This is where you come in. What do you want? Do you want a caster? Even then, do you feel like we need more analytical casting or play-by-play? Do you want videos of people watching a reply and going through and pointing out significant things, like analyzing replays? Do you want more 1v1 streamers or someone who will watch your replays and tell you what you need to work on? Any gap missing in the community that you feel needs to be filled up?
Hopefully this will help me, and anyone else looking to contribute, make what you want.
Talking about gaps, I really think SC2 & TL.net are weak when it comes to facebook. Some people might deny, but facebook is pretty popular and we gotta use TL.net's facebook page more.
I'm actually asking myself the same thing How do I provide content to the community?! Just do whatever makes you happy! And like Day9 always says, just dive right into it and KEEP doing it! There will always be people who don't subscribe to your angle, but there will always be those who do! So just focus on improving each time you do a cast, or write-up, or replay, whatever it is you do! Most of all, just have fun with it.
Yeah find something that you're good at or that you love to do and do it . You're much more likely to continue doing it if you enjoy it . Anyway best of luck to you, and I hope you find your Starcraft niche, can't wait to see what kinds of awesome you bring forth
i mean, considering the fact that you are a day9daily admin already, you actually do a whole lot to contribute, if i understand correctly, you sift through tons of replays to get the gist of the submissions through to sean. i really appreaciate that already
but if you really want to do your own thing, then i guess/propose that you should actually try all things that seem plausible and keep on doing what you have got the most positive feedback for.
Each Person wants something a little different, Some players want the in depth look at replays, going over mistakes, what each player did well and where the game was won, or lost. Others want a play by play of the cool stuff thats happening at any given moment, awesome commentary, spectacular battles and rapier wit. It depends on the player and the mood. So i second the Call, Do what you enjoy, and people who like whatever style you go with will watch.
