My opinion:

... that more people would realise how special this community truly is. For such and old site with so many visitors, the quality and variety of news, of its visitors, its staff and its features are beyond amazing. I've grown up here, literally, and I've seen it grow firsthand. TL is incredibly rare in its kind -- in my opinion unmatched and truly unique -- and I hope people start realising this more.. Just look at the FE by Ver and the Pony Tales. Simply amazing. Appreciate it, contribute to it, love it.

... that females become more accepted in the gaming community. They receive quite a bit of hate because internet is anonymous and its population young. I hope that gender becomes an unimportant aspect of gaming, because we are all just gamers. And to add to this, I truly hope that some females realize this as well. There are examples within our community that are here because they love gaming and the community embraces them, at least to an extent. I hope that this happens more and more. But sadly there are examples that hinder this development as well, trying everything to get attention by marketing their femininity. On this side of the story, I wish for them to realize what is going on and stop this development. In the end we all love this game.

... that people would complain less. Just a little bit. I'm guilty of this too sometimes. We, as a community, are incredibly harsh and too easily butthurt. Oh no the stream is gone for 2 minutes! Oh my god the caster made a joke I did not like! And the list goes on. I often wonder if the newer members to the SC community realize how incredibly blessed we are. Before TL there was basically no way to follow the pro-scene in Korea, and tourneys were incredibly rare, especially those with money-- let alone substantial amounts of money. There were no streams, there was nothing in first person view, and hell, at the beginning we did not even have replays. We are blessed with an incredible development all across the globe and TL has facilitated and still greatly facilitates this process. Be happy! Life is amazing, better than ever !

... that ESPORTS develops in a positive way. I honestly would hate to see the situation where progamers are arrogant, unreachable pricks-- where people stop forgetting what makes this game: its spectators. Without the spectators, the gamers are nothing. I fear the day when we 'mature' and the gap between the gamers and the spectators widens too much. I think Liquid`TLO is a prime example of how it can and imo should be. He radiates love for this game and remains approachable to his fans, remains humble, remains kind, despite his busy schedule and success. Sadly, there are also other examples of insane arrogance, where the popularity has gone to their heads. Maybe a few of them is not harmful. As said on the GSL, a game also needs a villain. But in the (near) future, it might become too many..

... that people would understand just how much this site and its staff does for the community and its members, and how much TL tries to improve. As an insider, at least to a large extent, each decision is well debated and acted upon for clear reasons. Though sometimes we are not transparant enough about these, or at least not in a way that is easy to reach for the newcomers. TL is not some large corporation of anonymous corporates that hates newcomers. Not at all! But we are quite strict to keep the same quality that we've always tried to achieve-- and always struggled to achieve. But remember that without this policy, TL would be like any other site, TL would not stand out. I hope that the newer users become more acquanted with the staff and vica versa!

... that some old members realise just how much we needed the new SC2 gamers. We were growing old, maturing a bit too much. There was not enough fresh blood because BW was and still is an old game. Of course this brings some troubles, as we are in a phase of adaptation-- a phase where newer users get adjusted to TL and its features and standards and where TL, even for a bit, gets used to the rampant growth. Nothing to fear though, as TL is perfectly capable of handling this, and new users bring an awesome lot to our community. Without 'them' (or maybe I should say us, SC2 has made me a lot more active.. I watch so many games now), esports would not be heading the way that we all always dreamed it would. And that? That is simply amazing.

Here's to TL, the site that I love

I wish I heeded my friends calls when he linked me to proleague vod's all those years ago. This community is amazing for the most part, I just wish I was part of it from the beggining.

This was a nice read to end my day at work. Thank you Beyonder.

Before the ensuing shit storm, I think you're 100% wrong on marketing gender. Masculinity gets marketed constantly, you just don't pick up on it because it's the norm for you. Your thinking is straight from the stone age on that one.

I've been coming to TL since 2004 and forunately it was the first forum I got really involved in.
I took the quality of our community for granted until I joined other forums and realized how great and unique TL is. And after 8 years it only seems to be getting better!

yes, obviously i agree as well. Females is always a good thing.
i forgot what the rest was about though, but i'm sure that's right too.

..

no, kidding ofc (but not to say i don't want females around). I love just reading through ancient threads where you can really get this tight community sense, that is a little lost these days. But still, TL is the most amazing community i know right now props to all the ban hammers! :D

You know, Id love to talk to you about this topic sometime. I have no problem with a male being a male or a female being a female. (For example, I think the Kellymilkies FHM shoot pictures were great and she should do that for sure if she wants it ^_^). But the dominating factor should be the love for the game. Who cares what sexuality the other is really, we're all gamers, all fans. But I feel that, in general, a female should not do everything in her power to stand out just because she is indeed a female; trying to get attention in such ways. I have so much respect for Lilsusie and Haemonculus for example. Almost noone knew Haemonculus was female, she did not try to promote herself in such a way. Instead, she was just a fan and a contributor to the community. And when people realized it, I dont think she received any shit.

Would love to hear your views as I'm always open for discussion. I know im rather vague on this one. Actually kind of ad-hoc writing before I sleep, early work tomorrow^_^

fantastic blog.

People should really love this community and know every good effort meats appreciation and support. About 2-3 years ago I just couldnt sit on my hands any longer and tried doing gfx. I kept sharing my attempts, I was awful, I'm certainly pretty bad today as well, but for all this time, many TLers kept supporting me, which made me love what I'm doing.

Because of TL I found something new in my life, something I want to devote myself and develop in. Now I'm happy to be important part of Pony Tales and with my work on it, I would love to inspire and reach every new TLer and to show that the content on this site, in all its awesomeness, comes from within and its not dropped by someone from outside.

Many people came and went, most of them were students who left TL because RL consumed them. But no one who made the site great in the past or is making it what it is today, is a simple consumer. TL gives the most if you give it something from yourself.

This blog is perfect. I agree on basically all points. The TL community is great. Thinking back to before sc2 and seeing how many people still came here although they didn't play bw anymore is proof for that. The amazing people here do amazing things. ^.^

The complaining about such little things is annoying and I try to keep myself from doing it. I look around the calendar and I always see a tournament with a high quality stream currently live with many more events in the near future. I can't help but think, "Oh my god, there is no way you can follow all of this". I remember it seemed like the whole foreign brood war scene would go inactive for a few months after WCG because there wasn't very much else to practice for. Seeing things go from reading battle reports to easily watching a live stream for a big tournament is amazing.

To add on your last point though I also wish that the new members realized exactly how much work the old members contributed and continue to do to this day. People should look around and check out BW (as well as its colorful history) a little more than I think they do right now. I remember that one poll where 500 people said they don't know who boxer is or the poll where 70% said they didn't know what TL attack was. Although bw is "that ancient game with awful graphics", there's more to it than meets the eye. ><

I wish the whole sc2 v bw shitfest would disappear asap. Broodwar is broodwar and sc2 is sc2. No one does anything but rehash the same old arguments. What difference does it make? Both games have interesting and entertaining games that can and should be appreciated by both crowds.

I'm as much against the ESPORTS persona (for people who don't know, it essentially means people looking for money/fame) as you but there's a couple problems with judging it. 1. It's hard to tell. Judging how much someone loves the game is just impossible. 2. It's all over the place. I think we're better off seeing who's stuck around in a year, rather than biting off someone's head now.*

I can't speak for Haemonculus, but it wouldn't surprise me that if the moment people found out she was female, it was more hassle than it was worth to her, but some people will judge the tradeoff differently. As a community, first and foremost, I think people need to be comfortable being themselves here, even if attention seeking. The only element I think we'd do well to avoid are the douche bags.

That said, this is your I Wish blog, so I completely understand how you could have a personal dislike for those people. I just think it should be along the lines of "I don't like how this person is, so I will ignore them" instead of "I think their behavior is wrong."

*There are some exceptions. If any CS players remember Recon from CxG, I flamed that guy to hell because I knew what he was from the start. :x

But now let's get it back on track.

I wish people didn't expect SC2 to change their life. It's an awesome, entertaining, dynamic hobby. But it saddens me when people put the rest of their lives on the side to take their shot, or feel entitled to some success because of how badly they want it. This concerns players more than fans.

I wish TL members expanded their horizons a bit more. As someone who's argued my heart out in General for 3+ years, it might surprise some to hear me say this (truth be told, I'm a bit surprised) but TL has a fairly high % of intelligent members who are at least ahead of the curve in rationality and thinking. But I think they're also bullheaded. Go ahead and give the other perspective a shot once in a while. Don't get so caught up in ideals and try to consider the process that leads to opinions and decisions, rather than just the end point alone. Sometimes the other side just has different points of reference/evidence than you do, and you're unaware of it. I'm definitely guilty of it too. If you do all that, you'll see most people are actually rational and find it's a lot easier to be nice to them and have a civil discussion.

Amen! People just need to take a step back and realize that every minute moment-to-moment personal annoyance doesn't need to be blown up or even expressed.

Also agree - but I can fairly say and see examples of how TL has changed lives (more than sc2) - the community is so fantastic in many regards that it has at least effected all of us in many small ways - to gigantic huge ways as well :D

Agreed - it's a huge reason I've managed to stay away from the general forum - people get caught up in arguments and begin arguing semantics, irrelevant points, or cling to their viewpoints without manners of perspective or conceding points. After awhile, it just becomes a flame war with no general direction. However, I think the internet seems to support such styles of viewpoints, or at least the society seems to encourage it.

(though this is similar to other wishes)I wish TL posters would have a less narrow view, be it on SC2 or anything else. To me, it seems they only observe things from a very narrow perspective (note: their own), and do not consider the wider picture. This lends to numerous arguments about imbalance, poor design, or what have you. If anger didn't play into people's hand as easily, they might be able to see the picture more clearly. I think with time this will get better, and HAS gotten better in TL after the release of sc2, so I remain optimistic.

This post brings a smile on my face not because you are right in any way but because of your paradox. If anything you should try and reread your posts in the kelly pics thread.. the pictures were barely up and you already jumped in commenting on " how you wouldve loved if she.." what?! and now you're talking as if "shes okay"? .. Kind of contradictive if you ask me.. next.. your "wish" is your obsession ..Ever since i met you you simply cannot get rid of this whole gender ordeal. So instead of wishing people to realize how great this community is.. how about you yourself start to let go whatever it is you are after. Women are generally dislikes because in such a community people tend to look down upon women who are lesser and once you're a woman you are always an attention (...) as people call it..
Now dear Beyonder.. i vividly recall our first encounter.. i was talking about some post on teamliquid and u just joined and stated right away " what?.. someone who uses miss.. suna.. eww" and when i replied you banned me. Narrow minded or not but you certainly do jump to conclusions without even giving it a shot. Ofcourse, everyone loves attention but to solely this scene/game to get that is non existent but only in your head among other haters who clearly have prejudices. And sure.. we are all human beings afterall so having prejudices is a part of that. But please dont take stage here saying you "wish" something when you are being such a hypocrit.

(Im in no way refering to Kellymilkies here btw, jsut to clarify^^)

This site is so great,
I've made a few new friends here.
Viva la TL!
A build is not a guess, an estimation or a hunch, a feeling, or a foolish intuition. A build is a dependable, unwavering, unarguably accurate, portrayer of your ambition.

Team Liquid is the site I wish I had could have become a part of instead of the modding sites that are all now long dead. All I can do now is share what I've experienced for the handful that are half-way interested.

Answering shortly before work. I was talking about the INTERVIEW of Kellymilkies, which I did not like and thought missrepresented our community/communities. That has nothing to do with her gender. And I do not really enjoy her casting. Again, nothing to do with her being a female. There are several female casters which I can enjoy and there are definitely other male casters which I do not enjoy.

And thats a beautiful way to twist the facts. Your posting was pretty terrible and you received several bans from OTHER MODS in just a few posts time, all I did was warn you once on here and temp ban you from #tl, which basically everyone agreed with.

And the list goes on. Yeah I think you hurt the development of females in our community with your ways. I cringe when I see a huge cleavage picture on a 5000$ tournament and you attempting to flirt iwth everyone, giving voices to the ones that act out positive towards you, pictures of you writing SC2 stuff on womanly parts.... And yeah, I do feel that to be a bad and sad thing for other females in the community TT. No that had nothing to do with the moderating both here or in #tl. Your behaviour was under par, and I've acted upon that. You've improved, so I haven't acted upon it recently. It's as simple as that. My opinion is there, but moderating has nothing to do with that. Hell, you're even the only female I've ever moderated on in 9 years O_O.

Having an opinion on an individual which has nothing to do with her gender = something different. The only paradox lies in your missunderstanding of the situation. Hell, even my girlfriend posts here.

Beyonder Beyonder :D you are quite something arent you.. you quote me on something yet you are telling me " Having an opinion on an individual which has nothing to do with her gender = something different. " .
Please tell me thats not a hyprocritical.. even so why would you care? Also..There are a gazillion people out there if u ban one person who is overly present a numerous people would be content with that. As for flirting and my pic on a stream. This just shows how narrow minded you really are.. like i said you're going on and on about "i wish" but the only thing you seriously need to wish is to get real and stop being so sour as the person you appear to be.
Now i really dont think anyone bears the responsibility to explain themselves about what they do or how they express oneself. But 1 thing i hate more is short sighted people who cannot see the difference about trying to entertain and joke/kid around rather rather than actual flirting. Now once again you honestly never sieze to amaze me with your ways of looking of things which are not only distorted but also full of non relevant interceptions of you which you somehow need to express wether its by making some senseless blog or jumping into a convo where one is only minding her own business.Ohw, btw those voice i gave people ( not that it concerns you ) but i am only kidding around and acting to the "nice" people as opposed to all the haters who crave for attention by making remarks unjust. But hey.. you wouldnt be you if u took irrelevancy out of its proportion and made it a reason to cringe/dislike whatever it is you want to call it. Why don't you judge people for what they try to bring to the community instead of judging on irrelevant issues which is none of your concern. Pitiful.

None of my business? You do this stuff on a public stream (and on TL facilities), representing a website and a tourney for 5k. I care because I've been an active part of the community and this site for 13 years, trying to help it grow and develop, and I'd love to see us succeed with a community where both genders get along in a relatively normal way. And I feel you hurt this development with your ways. So I write my opinion and hope it changes.

You often kid around a lot then. If you always kid around in the same ways, its just your consistent behaviour, you know? It's simple attention craving. You put yourself out there in such a way but you do not want people to have and express opinions? Oh come on. How naive.

And yeah, its quite strange that I give my opinion in the public place that is our website and our IRC (which I started, it's my baby!). How narrow minded and silly of me. I should definitely stop. Its simple, I care. I care about this community accepting females, I care about the quality of IRC and the forums. They are my concern, it is my job here.

And wait, you are judging me for having an opinion, which is your opinion. In your words, should you not be judging me for the stuff ive done in 13 years? Not for who I am.

But can we stop polluting this blog You have your opinion, I have mine. Thats perfectly fine (oh my, rhyme!).

I love this! 5/5. <3 TL

Although maybe people could chill out in the comments... if you disagree so strongly you could always write your own blog rather than hijack beyonder's.

hahaha, i do this stuff on public stream .. o my god.. i kid around on public stream for the sole purpose of entertainment, i show a bit of cleavage on a pic. You are so amusing people show nasal piercings looking like what not wearing hats beards just to look cool and you judge me? I will rest my case.. i just want to thank all people who are kind and willing to accept people from whatever gender and judge them on their contribute, dedication and achievements rather than pointing out stuff out which are not to your liking and only show how narrow minded one is. Thankyou that will be all.

After something like 10 years in CS and then WoW (those were just the major communities/games) I can say I have never seen anything like TL. I never really took part in those forums because I didn't feel like it, but TL is like home now :o

I wish I was little bit taller,
I wish I was a baller,
I wish I had a girl who looked good
I would call her
I wish I had a rabbit in a hat with a bat
