I made two personal firsts yesterday. A 24 year old man from upper middle class, yet I finally bought my first cell phone.
And my first Mac product.
I've needed a cell phone for a while now; let's say a year or so. I'm kind of against cell phones in that they absorb people's lives. I have a friend who will stop whatever he's doing when he gets a phone call. Doesn't matter what's happening, what he's in the middle of, who he's with. He will answer that phone.
Suffice to say, my form of self-control is, generally, abstention. I don't drink. I've never done drugs. Not because I necessarily think either is an absolute evil, but rather to keep myself accountable. So I've gone a while without a cell-phone, but here I am now, with one.
Then there's the whole Mac thing. I have no problem with a Mac if it is a reasonable product. It just so happened to be that no matter what I read, the iPhone 4 came out on top amongst smart phones. Considering I don't have to have access to the Blackberry buisiness server, whatever it's called, I didn't really need one of those.
I just hate Mac addicts. Especially anyone who buys a Mac computer; what a waste of money. Buy the same software+PC for half the cost, seriously people.
Anyway, here I am with my first mp3 player, first phone, and first iOS product. I'm looking for good games on a bit of a deeper level (ie Angry Birds and Plants vs. Zombies may be fun, but not what I'm looking for). Any first-hand suggestions?

My game dev studio is pretty good, probably the reason I bought an ipod touch when my old mp3 player clunked out on me. Pretty simple in regards to modern day sim games but still I've played it for a good 8-10 hours and reminds me of older sim games I played while growing up.

Also I don't know what OP's been reading to come to the conclusion that the iPhones come out on top. They don't. Sell it and get a good phone, not a popular one.

dude iphone is a great choice if you can afford it. i've seen enough blackberrys with toasted keyboards and hardware from tiny amounts of liquid but ive dipped my iphone in beer and it was okay. anyways congrats on the buy.
the only game i really play is galcon. get galcon.

I do have an iPhone though, and I'm quite fond of it, even though the only thing I really do on it is surf the Internet. I know other phones can to that as well, but the iPhone makes it convenient, thats the reason why i abandoned my anti apple stance and bought one myself.

iPhone4 is okay phone, Android is definetly better OS but iPhone is still great  Macs however are horrible in my opinion. As for games, get Battleheart, awesome RPG

Regarding what I read to make me believe it (the iPhone 4 I purchased, to clear that up) was better, it was largely lack of manufacturing defects (my provider isn't AT&T so I haven't had any antenna issues ), quality (as opposed to size) of the screen, filming in HD (which I do see myself using), multi-touch screen, compact design, and yes, app compatibility. There's a lot of trash on the App store, but there's a lot of good stuff on there too.
Things that did not sway my decision: it's an apple product, "face time" or whatever they call it, iTunes, and countless other bells and whistles.
I'm tech savvy, and in no way does me buying this make me a Mac puppet. I read countless hardware reviews before I bought this product.
Re: Tactics - that's true, but I own Tactics, and I also own SoM and FF 1-3. I'm thinking there will be few re-releases on here that I don't own. One game I have been convinced to buy so far is Zenonia, a SNES graphics diablo-style game. I'm also tempted to get Infinity Blade or whatever its called, but I'm uncertain if it's just gorgeous or also a good game.
The Squeenix RPG is supposed to be good, too, and is down to a few bucks from its original $16 price point.
But seriously, is there noone on here who has an iPhone and uses it for games? I almost bought an xPlay until I realized you couldn't transfer PSN purchases to it. Thanks, Sony.

I'mma get an androide for games. they have super nintendo, all of it.
For games I want to buy, I'm sure their random list of buyable games will be better than apple cause apple is all about angrybirds and plants vs zombies (like you said in your first post).

Really though, I'm a bit sad about all the Apple hate on the various boards I frequent. iPhone vs. Android and Mac OS vs. Windows really aren't black and white decisions at all. I love Mac OS, but I've learned to love Windows as well with the 7; both have their strengths and weaknesses and I appreciate them both. As for phones, I've used an iPhone as well as an Android (2.2) for pretty long periods and I actually prefer the iPhone, for a great many reasons, but none so absolute to just call Android bad.
Oh, congrats on the iPhone btw It's quite a jump from no phone at all to one of the best smartphones available - you'll find it hard to live without one soon enough.
