I am often asked about my choice of name for forums and games. I try to go by Riku and, if not that, RikuKitty (which is my summoner name on LoL if anyone wants to add me!).
Truthfully, I get rather tired of the questions sometimes. Hearing "like Riku from Kingdom Hearts?" makes me want to scream. Mostly because I really don't enjoy the kingdom hearts games, not would I name my female characters all after a male, as feminine as he may be. That brings about another issue, though, many people ask if it's from Final Fantasy. Sorry, but Riku isn't Rikku!!!
So where did "Riku" come from? World of Warcraft. No, not a character in the Warcraft lore, it came from the game. When I first made my account, I sat there trying to think of a name for my Night Elf druid. I'm rather picky about names and their lengths. I generally don't like names that can be turned into nicknames I don't like, so I try to keep my character names short. Basically, I sat there typing in four or five letter names until Riku went through. It was the first name I tried that wasn't taken and I happened to really like it. Thus, I am Riku! >:D
Despite RikuKitty being my most common gamertag, I generally tend to avoid two-word names, especially ones that involve a word like "Kitty." My other WoW characters are named Luminai, Kioni, Ziku, Firm and Moonshine. Alright, so Moonshine might be a bit of a stress, but she's a Night Elf priest and having the double meaning to her name is absolutely hilarious, especially because she was on 2s and 3s teams with a warlock named Vodka (one of which was named Boozin and Snoozin).
I loved that little priesty to death before they screwed up Disc in Cata. I was a complete terror with her when I was leveling, trying to gank absolutely anyone I came across. I remember tracking down a 63 warrior and 64 paladin when I was 62 and killing them both while laughing manically. Okay, so maybe I get into pvp a little bit too much at times, but I never picked on anyone lower level than me!! I really just loved how discipline priests played and leveled her disc straight from the first talent point! Though I started arenas super late (she hit 80 after ICC was released), I climbed the rankings fast and without much gear! Then again, disc/rogue and disc/lock can be pretty powerful combos!
Alright, alright, enough of my WoW chatter and back to my name. I guess it helps that my real name is Renee, so Riku sounds fairly similar. In truth, I respond to both irl. A few weeks of hanging out with guild members in person made it very easy to forget what I am supposed to be called! I'm quite fond of the name, so I really appreciate that it is so easily remembered!
:D
Anyway, both my school's Bacon Club and Cheese Club are having meetings (and free food) in just a few minutes, so I'm off for now! Byeeee!
Oh, if you do want to hear me blather on about WoW, though, check this out:

Well...they've made Disc suck a lot less in PvE with all the changes, though Holy is still the go-to spec. I still hear mediocre to bad things about it in PvP, though. Isn't RMP still considered strong at the higher levels, though?

I think RMP will forever be beautiful simply for it's CC. It's really not based on having a priest there because a priest is a best healer, but because of the CC that a priest brings in. Having sheep, fear, and sap means the other healer can be generally disabled throughout the entire fight! The addition of having a mana steal, especially with how much more mana-sensitive Cata is, makes it a really killer combo despite what I consider lack-luster pvp healing from priests.
Truthfully, I haven't been on my priest in a while, so I am only aware of the initial changes made in Cataclysm. Still, I doubt they have lessened the nerf on disc priest bubbles, which really was the core of disc priests before Cata. I really only ever used my priest seriously in PvP, though, and it seems rather lame that holy gets the best of both worlds where disc has to deal with "suck a lot less" and "mediocre to bad."

It's also a common finnish forename.

I was thinking of making a very similar blog actually.... people always assume my username is named after the country in the Pacific, the Federated State of Micronesia. That's not it, nor did I get it from Zoolander.
I have a pet crow that knees people (thanks Kau).

I remember destroying a level 64 death knight twice in a row as a 56 shadow priest. Yeah. I was laughing like a maniac, too, especially since I had no idea how to play a priest at all. Actually, I just laugh like a maniac regardless so long as someone else is suffering.

how can you destroy a 64 death knight when you're sub-60? gotta be playing against the biggest retard in the world given that a DKs gear in outlands is better than endgame vanilla raid gear

Exactly. He was levelling by grinding his way through winterspring.

that is also how i made my D2 hero names. short and random.

the bacon...and cheese clubs....

In wow, I tend to just randomize and see what comes up. I've got some very unique names with it, Bairrain and Mastarcyon.
Moonshine reminds me of the drink

WoW is just a boring game to play (at least in PvE). The only two things keeping me raiding were the guild I was in (those people are super baller (Valio / Kyl @ Nordrassil - EU if someone else from the guild is in here)) and when you killed a actually challenging boss. The bad thing was that the latter was a rare sight. I can actually remember only 5 hard bosses from TBC / WotLK. Oh well, playing with the guild was a blast with all the drunken karaoke nights, funpvp and just straight up comedic guild chat.
For PvP I just plainly sucked so I refrained from it for the most part. I also got pissed off from all the RNG in the game. As a person coming from a FPS background I find RNG really frustrating.

This is true to some degree, but it isn't even close to the most common forenames. :p

Every time I see your name, I just think of Riku from FFX...

Argh I know... what on earth was Blizzard thinking with the changes to disc
I used to love my priest so much but once Cata hit it just ruined how it used to work. The new smite mechanics were so freaking boring. I had a brief stint as Holy but it just wasn't the same so I quit.
My undead priest was originally a 60 twink for around 2 years until exp for bgs came in. I then leveled her to 80 and did arena and some random raiding here and there. I never got bored of playing disc in battlegrounds or arena.
After that she had a short time as a gnome while I played with friends on a different server but it wasn't the same and I went back to Blackrock and back to being undead
Looking through my screenshots is still heaps of fun. I'll only post a couple though:
First I was undead... + Show Spoiler +
Then a gnome... + Show Spoiler +
Then back to being dead ^_^ + Show Spoiler +
I also used to get a lot of enjoyment out of model editing. I was really sad when Blizzard killed it off in 4.0 and then each time a new method was found they killed it again. Really frustrating when for years they turned a blind eye to cosmetic edits and then decided they were going to declare war on it.

Haha, I don't see any reason why you shouldn't write that blog! It could be an interesting read!

My school funds interesting clubs. While we have ones such as the hiking club, the surf club and the field sports club, we also have the wine club, the bacon club, the cheese club, etc. We even have a club that funds "girly" activities such has getting manicures (of course, it isn't female exclusive, but guys don't really attend).

Haha, yep! I can't remember my hero names right now, but I know they follow the same convention.

The raid fights are definitely more difficult than they were in WotLK. I think some WotLK fights were challenging, but that a lot of them were free loot. However, I really did like the diversity of the encounters. They were really fun for some reason other than their difficulty, but I can't quite put my finger on why.
I know what you mean about it being fun with a good guild, though, A guild really makes or breaks the game.
