Best of luck! The accelerated heart beat is a symptom of nicotine withdrawal, it comes and goes and I haven't experienced it for a while, but I definitely plan on exercising once all of this shit stops. And thank you so much, I feel like no one remembers me here since it's been so long. Newer people might not know you, but I doubt many older users have forgotten your encyclopedic progaming knowledge.

I hope u get well soon, maybe you should find some kind of activity to focus on, is there something you always wanted to do and didn't have time? And as others say, physical exercise could be helpful too.

Watch out with medicines, Doctors are so easy with putting any1 on medicines nowadays they might not even need. As far as I know the damage you do to your body by smoking can be recovered from if you just live healthy. As some other guys allready said, join a gym, eat fruits and vegetables and also make sure you have a regular sleeping schedule.
Take care man hope you get better quick !

pubbnana, Here's a Michael Jackson quote to cheer you up:
"You are not alone unknown! AIIIIEE rember youuuu! Even if we lurrrrked. 'New-people' were theeeere!"
Heh sorry I just listened to that song ![](/mirror/smilies/smile.gif) Keep it strong man! Oh, and if it doesn't pain you to laugh I'd reccomend you get your mind of stressesss by going through the Queens-Cartoon thread, and NaDa's Body, of course.

You're not losing your mind, what happened to you is understandable.
Just take care man, and keep a strong will on quitting smoking.

And just this december I was convinced something was wrong with my stomach I got an endoscopy done (I have the CD if I ever get bored and feel like watching my insides for a bit) and the doctor pretty much told me the exact thing.
Being a pack a day smoker just means you've probably destroyed your little flap thing that helps keep bile and all that awesome food down. Just try to cut it before you get to the stage where eating all the food you love becomes hard. Sometimes I can't keep down kebabs and certain foods - its not really fun acting like a bird regurgitating your food you just ate.
Oh to make you feel better I guess? I also have failed like you but it seems like you went waaaay longer than I ever have so I'd say best bet is trying your best to go on that long streak and keep at it. Tell your friends to actually help you quit im sure your friends would love tormenting you keeping your cigs away from you when you hang out with em. As for the problems - the pain, the bloating its all going to stay and only get worse if you keep smoking :| Surely only four years wouldn't have destroyed anything, would it? Both of my parents have smoked their whole lives, my father died at seventy one and my mother is sixty two and I don't ever remember them having any trouble swallowing anything. Oh, and what exactly did the doctor tell you?
Depends really on the person in the end and how their body takes to it I guess. I have pretty much the same things going on as you (It feels like there is a lump in your throat kinda when you swallow?) and I have smoked about twice as long but towards the latter half started smoking bongs w/ a little tobacco in 'em with my bowls (unfiltered is the stupidest thing I've done :|) and stopped cigs completely. The doc pretty much said the exact thing (Acid Reflux) and told me to eat better and gave me a list to follow (I think I have it somewhere still). Also what iPlay mentioned about sleeping and what not might help you out at night.
I guess my point I'd like to make overall is you're definitely not going insane, you're just noticing the horrible side effects of something you really like to do ontop of losing something 'cause of that same activity. Just tough it out and use whatever outside support you can get don't try and do it alone.
