I will list some custom games I have bookmarked:
1. Mafia: how can anyone not love this game? The first time it was out, I played it 24/7. It's addictive and helps hone your manipulative skill - maybe you could use it in league games? Kidding. Or maybe not. Also, it's a relaxing game while enjoying dinner/in between league games.
2. pictionary: really good fun with friends you know. Improve your drawing skills!
3. Night of the Dead EU: medic ftw! May be quite repetitive after 50 games, but you could try different characters, and your stats save. Professionally made game. I like.
4. Blizzard mods (StarJeweled, Left2Die, Aiur Chef): my favourite being StarJeweled. Aiur Chef, just not my type of game. And Left2Die is alright. A bit boring in my opinion after the first game.
Any other custom games worth mentioning?

My favorites are Marine Arena and City of Tempest. Really micro and decision based.

I'm on and off addicted to Storm of the Imperial Sanctum. Something about hearing "M-M-M-MONSTER KILL" is just so satisfying.
It may be difficult to find other players but Smashcraft is exceptionally well made - it looks and feels professionally designed.

BATTLECRAFT How can you not love to crush your enemies in 2 minutes and under.
FREAX TOWERWARS I used to play mauls 24/7 in WC3 and I still think that it is freakin awesome.
MINERALZ Always play it with friends and it is fun.
Phantom (Abyss) Form secret alliances and troll everyone, resulting in after-game stalking and what now.

DESERT STRIKE! I used to map test for the creator, chill dude.

i havent found too many that are outstanding, my personal favorites are the really short and simple ones. -Troncraft REBIRTH (so awesome once you get good and can weave in and out. oh and play with 3+ people) -Pictionary

Doubt many people have played it, but Magecraft is an absolutely amazing custom game. It's a FFA arena-style game where each player has one "hero" unit. The goal is to kill other people and be the last man standing.
What makes it so good is that it takes a large amount of skill while being simple in concept. You shoot projectiles at other people which take time to land so timing/dodging etc. are important.
Unfortunately it dropped pretty badly in popularity, so you'll have to look for it.

Star Battle is my favourite DotA-ish map, just because of the lazers and the pew pew. i usually play the greedy leviathan who gets sniped after racking 400+ kills.
I tried Bejeweled, but it wasn't of my liking (i suck at it), and actually loved L2D just because it's a defense game.
I actually was looking back to BW custom games. The simplicity of the engine is still captivating after so many years, my personal favourite was hours and hours of Quests Open RPG, or Dungeons and Dragons with friends.

really enjoying Mafia and Squadron TD myself. Also still a big fan of Colonial Line Wars.
Does anyone know a well-made and balanced Tower Wars map? in wc3 there were thousands of em, all with their little variations. in sc2 i can only find (mostly) mediocre TDs and the 1000 income wars variations (as i mentioned already, colonial line wars is the most balanced and interesting one imo).
in wc3 i played the hell out of shango tower wars (pro beta version 6 z0mg). really missing that or a similar map in sc2...
