Though Hell Week starts next week, today is my "hell day." I have to finish a term paper, a presentation for said paper, and study for a final that's tomorrow morning. Unfortunately, the final is in advances system engineering, which is not exactly the easiest subject to wrap your head around! Thus, I am going to procrastinate and write and ridiculously long blog! Ha!
Luckily, the term paper is almost done, I'm just adding in a few rainbow graphs, because they are so pretty!!! No, seriously, they look fucking awesome. Though, truthfully, MATLAB just makes them that way in it's surfacing fitting tool.
This is one of them (I excluded the axis):
SO PRETTY!
My professor encouraged me to publish my paper after reading my rough draft. While I think that would be very cool, I do not feel I've put nearly enough effort into it to have it published! I feel like I did little more than collect data and toss it into a curve-fitting tool while rambling around about different studies that set the limits on it's applicability. Some how I doubt the great economists, cost estimators and engineers of the world really care to read about some silly model a junior made, even if it is very pretty!
Alright, enough non-game stuff.
Recently, I've gotten back into Borderlands. I went through the first two expansions on my Siren (she's an utter badass) and just started a Hunter. I was wondering before how my friend was getting so many headshots! Having no sway on sniper rifles makes it so much easier! While my Hunter is fun, my Siren is really my favorite. I found the BEST SMG EVER! That allows her to rape things. Though she is in her mid-40s, I'm using a level 28 SMG. It's one of those silly items that just happen to be randomly generated as an OP badass. It has 68x4 damage, TERRIBLE accuracy (I think 60.4), and a fire rate of 13! On top of that, it has a 2.4x weapon zoom, so I actually can hit people pretty damn accurately with it from a distance! When I first got it, I was ridiculously over-powered, but now it is settling back into a "normal" range that I am almost 20 levels ahead of it. Then again, I still am using a level 25 legendary repeater because it had great accuracy, a high elemental effect chance and 4x fire damage. Burn, baby, burn!
I haven't been playing Vindictus as much recently, which is a pity considering this month has free boats. I'll probably make another blog later today about why Vindictus should be played. My main character, which is a spear Lann (i.e. duel wielding maniac), has just reached 53 and is almost 54. I find the lack of set upgrades in the later levels rather depressing, though it makes sense considering the materials they take to make! For those of you who don't know, Vindictus is very Monster Hunter-esq in it's gear creation, having to kill a boss numerous times to get materials for crafting the gear you want.
The requirement to grind the same few boats/instances over and over to progress at this level can be very tiring, especially because the boss fights really are challenging. When the boss can kill you in two or three shots, the game is suddenly much more intense and demanding! I love my spear Lann to death, though, so I will undoubtedly keep playing him, just not at the break-neck pace I was before.
Now for the final game I've been playing recently: League of Legends.
My last winning streak messed up my ELO again. When I was queuing with my level 30 friends all of the time, I expected my ELO to get a bit screwy. However, I have been solo queuing for quite a while now. The last game I had against non-30s was over three games ago! In my last few games I have been the only non-30 (I am currently level 28). I wish there was an alert telling me this when I started a game, because playing against other level 20s is completely different from playing against level 30s! Yes, I know there are many terrible 30s, but there are MANY, MANY more terrible level 20s.
Truthfully, I have cheated a little by playing almost exclusively the same character, Nidalee. I feel knowing her inside and out really gives me an advantage, but I would really appreciate getting those last two skill points and my third quint before I have to go against full teams of 30s without my friends!
Oh, well, such is life. I've probably procrastinated enough, though! On to my studies!
