Look, I has photoshop!

I want talk about the “Ideal” tournament. Instead of imagining features that may (or may not) be technologically possible I wanted to talk about the best things that are already being done. The goal would be a Frankenstein-style tournament comprised of all the ideal parts of our current tournaments.

For the sake of discussion assume that next year all these leagues will be consolidated into one large league. This is a “friendly” merger so the new tournament will use all the best features of the old independent leagues. Which features of each league would you keep?

Below you will find a few polls that hardly begin to cover these details. As people post I will add any polls that seem relevant. Please vote in the polls and give a brief post about why you feel this way. Please try to focus on what you like as opposed to what the others are doing wrong.

I suppose the difference between LAN and just observer would be the ability to hear the crowd behind the casters and knowing that the players have/will interact in person. The cast by observers is supposed to imply the players playing in their home environment.

Excuse me, what's the difference between casting from lan event and casting from observer? Aren't casters of LAN events using an observer?

And I think the poll from the "what would you watch?" is really something that depends on who's playing =P

you're right about "what would you watch", although I think MLG is going to dominate that question... since they broadcast less often they get a sense of priority with most people (I think)

I think the options for answers aren't quite diverse enough, but nevermind:

Qualification structure: Which would you keep?
Missing option: [X} None (MLG is closest to OKish, but the seeding system just doesn't work)

Re-qualification structure: Which one should be kept?

I think "cast live in LAN event" englobes "casting live with observers"

MLG's Championship bracket+open is a work of beauty. The possibility of having a 250+ man tournament where you can have games worth watching from the start of the day is great for me as a spectator.

I also think it is unfair to compare NASL to MLG or IPL at the moment because it is only week 2 and we haven't seen how the final 16 will be produced. Whereas IPL is all done from replays and edited in a studio.

I guess you could say the same for mlg though cos no-one has seen it yet. *cough cough*
