I stopped following it when 1999 ended. It was a fun few hours to spend the evening watching. When Owen Heart died it was a sad time for it and that led to me not really watching it anymore.

I'm always confused when discussions like this go on this long without a mention of TNA. It's currently being destroyed by Hulk Hogan and Eric Bischoff, but in the past several years they've had extremely good matches, shows and PPVs with Kurt Angle, Sting, Booker T, Scott Steiner, Team 3D (Dudleys), Jeff Hardy, Mick Foley, several former ECW wrestlers, and many TNA-original wrestlers like AJ Styles, Kazarian, Chris Daniels, Beer Money, and the list goes on. Good matches still exist, good wrestlers still exist, and good booking still (albeit occasionally) still exists.

As for recent good matches, anything here:

A true fan already knows its fixed and scripted. But we still enjoy the entertainment it provides and the unexpected. I agree that WWE wasn't as good as it was before. Partly because they became PG friendly and thus not as hardcore as before.

WWE lacks in the tag division, titles are not as prestige anymore, women's division pretty much sucks. For a long time, the main event in PPVs mostly consisted of Cena and Orton, until now with The Miz. It's funny how they managed to bring back Triple H, The Rock, Stone Cold, and Trish Stratus back for a little bit.

TNA has awesome in ring ability, awesome tag teams, and quite a strong women's division, but their booking is absolutely terrible.

I've been watching WWF/WWE since i was really small and I continue to watch it still. TNA is too frustrating to follow because in 2 weeks people keep changing to baby face and heel. I keep having hope in TNA but yeah, Hogan and Bischoff is ruining it big time.

I'm also gonna miss Edge. For the people in Toronto, expect WrestleMania to come soon so they can induct him into HoF. =D

The whole Best of 5 between these two teams was awesome.

And yeah, the first years of TNA were totally the shit, during the period of NWA-TNA. The booking was not that good (Vince Russo as a group leader ?) but the X-Division wrestlers, oh my god. I remembered the 2005-2007 period as an awful period for TNA, with the Originals to step up and product a better show (AJ, Joe, Daniels, Kaz, Sabin...). Christian Cage, Kurt Angle, the Main Event Mafia, on the other hand, probably is my favorite atm.

I haven't the same view as you speaking of Hogan and Bischoff. Their first year at the lead of the company nearly was a failure (lots of errors with the characters and the feuds), however since Bound for Glory, I'm pretty pleased by their stuff, except for the last pay per view. :[

Edit : TNA tries to respawn the X-Division too, especially when you look at the free for all in cage in three days.

I really dont watch anymore, but when did wrestling become PG? Like wasnt one of the main things that spurred the 90s revival was the inclusion of gratuitous sex, booze (AUSTIN 316) and all that stuff?? It was way more edgy than what I remember in the 80s which relied on huge ass dudes and more simple themes (good vs bad, vaguely jingostic tones etc)

The attitude era of WWF was probably the time when most of us watched it, AUSTIN 316, I remember every match he would go to each corner, slam beers down and flip off the audience.

Good times.

It became fully PG about a year ago or so. They're not allowed to do blood anymore and even chair shots to the head. Triple H and Taker got fined for the chair shot in the head for this year's WrestleMania. But man that was the best match of the PPV.

Wrestling used to actually be cool to me back in the 90s. Now it's a bunch of lame shit to appease the fucking soccer moms. It's a joke.

i'm sure they got fined like 100 bucks each, there's no way they didn't clear it with management beforehand

especially since "management" includes the dude that swung the chair

Yeah I'm sure it wasn't much either. Triple H and Taker is pretty much on top of the management so i'm sure nobody really cared that much. Even if they get suspended or whatever they're not even working in the ring anymore. Only a few more matches and they are done for in the ring.

I know that. I'm saying that it's an industry build on selling 'real' fighting. Is this a fine or a 'fine'

im thinking the later but who knows

Jerry "The King" Lawler still commentates. Unfortunately they've made him the focal point of the most irritating storyline possible, together with Michael Cole. I just want to strangle a kitten everytime Michael Cole opens his mouth.
Amateurish. Nearsighted. A waste of my time and everyone else's.
