I've been really chilling these last 2 weeks, spending more time surfing TL, watching SC2, movies and DBZ etc than actually playing. I've played a lot of custom games for fun in the past but the lobby is just so badly designed now and the updated maps of what I used to play sucks.
I don't think I could do like some others and grind 1v1 ladder games 10 hours a day to get into GM. I was hoping to spend my bonus pool before the 2 weeks where over but my MX518 mouse stopped working before the weekend and I decided to have it replaced 3 days later.
Overall, I have only played about 50+ 1v1 games, I never had the chance for a learning curve, that's why I started playing teamgames, because I wanted to learn the game first and my BW experience gave me a lead over everyone else. September 10th, 1,5 month after SC2 came out I was Platinum World rank: #34 / #14 in R 2v2/R 4v4 before I was homeless for 2 months T_T
I guess I'm just scared or something to play 1v1, that I'm not good enough to compete and my MMR being higher than I think I deserve. I seem to just lose in any long macro game as I don't use any BO's, make fatal decisions, or know what army composition I should go for, not to mention I can be suicidal with my army lol. I tried looking to Liquipedia for BO's but is not clear cut, seems a bit outdated.
I may build up the courage to keep up with my 1v1 bonus pool, anyway I've been doing pretty good in teamgames, R 4v4 was my best ladder in Season 1 but oddly enough is now the worst in S02. There seems to be twice as many Masters in 3v3/4v4 than 2v2 World/Region wise, I'm not sure why but I guess because 2v2 is much harder and more competitive while 3v3/4v4 is more casual/fun to play.
It could also be because of maps and rush imbalance, I don't really know. It's also harder to 3v3/4v4 when your random against arranged teams that work together while a 2v2 arranged team's strength lies mostly in rushing. (Z/P >.<) However I'm pretty surprised that my R 2v2 ladder according to sc2ranks is currently World / Region rank: #58 / #18 and Region race rank: #4.

Although only 14-4 games and I remember the losses. It was a placement match, game crash, 1 base vs 5-6 base with lame ally that sieges on low ground and stays there for the rest of the game and Red Stone Gulch Z/P rush where I made a blunder and moved out of my wall, baneling bust + proxy pylon warp suddenly. As the season goes on, if I lose to much, mass gamers will surpass me I believe.
Anyway I'm conflicted with how to optimally adjust my mouse settings with my Logitech MX518, in another thread people kept saying how bad acceleration was in FPS games but it works for me. Currently my settings are Windows: 6/11, Mouse Precision: off, SC2 Sensitivity: 51%, SetPoint Pointer Speed: 5 or 6/11, Pointer Acceleration: low, DPI: 700-800-900, SC2 Resolution: 1280x960.
If anyone have any opinions on these settings or If anyone using an MX518 mouse would share what settings they use, or have any ideas on how to get into playing 1v1. I'm also curious if there's any SC2 Vent channels (EU?) around where you can just hang out and talk about SC2 etc, I'm just tired of being quiet/lonely and would like to try that ^_^
Btw I also have 101 replays, among those beating many of the top ranked players on the EU ladder.
