Anton ’Cooller’ Singov is a Quake Live legend. Not only is he famous for being a strategical mastermind and be superior in map control, he is also known for his comments and very honest behavior. Cooller is always walking around with a grin on his face after a win. Despite the honest behavior, he was the very first winner of the Intel Extreme Masters Fair Play Award for his sportsmanship.I recall being at a Mexican restaurant, during our stay in Hannover for CeBIT 2011, with Cooller and the rest of mouz and SK-Gaming. As we started eating our appetizers, something came to Coollers mind. All of a sudden he seems very interested and from the corner, he says loudly “MorroW…” Everybody is looking at Cooller and being silent, awaiting his next move. After 12 seconds of awkward silence, MorroW nods his head and is like “Huh?” where Cooller responds with a grin on his face “I wanted your attention,” but as the conversation went on Cooller has played some StarCraft himself and was very interested in the Zerg race. He rambles on about his favorite players, strategies – which to be fair he has no clue of – and the game in general, but momentarily he says “..but I like making dogs, you know?” in a very heavy Russian accent. Everybody started laughing and looked at him “Dogs?” These so far unknown dogs turned out to be Zerglings. Besides this little anecdote, some of his famous quotes are: “Alltimes lucky,” “It’s not internet,” “Not my trouble” and “Relax.”
Another story some of you might already know is that after the Intel Extreme Masters EU Championship in Kiev, Live On Three with djWHEAT did a show with all the winners of IEM EU. First on was Cooller being the champion of the Quake Live tournament and djWHEAT was just talking non-stop about this, that and how great a victory it was and so forth, but sums it up with “so Cooller… There’s something I want to talk to you about,” and after another good 10 seconds of awkward silence, he replies “No,” in a very demanding tone “I want to talk this first.” Haha, somewhat bad mannered, but it’s Cooller and everybody knows him. I love it.
But the reason, I’m making this blog is that I want to share the new Quake Live movie that has been made about Cooller. It’s 8 minutes 16 seconds non-stop fragging and awesome moves. I hope you enjoy it.
And since this is a StarCraft community, I have asked Cooller a few questions about the game.
+ Show Spoiler +
Q: Hi Anton. Can you please introduce yourself to the Team Liquid and StarCraft community?
A: "My name is Anton Singov, but most of the people now me as Cooller and I live in Moscow, Russia.
I'm 24 years old and I'm playing videogames professionally since 2002 and I during my career I won multiple World Titles in different games. My games are Quake 3, Quake 4 and Quake Live and I'm proud to be a part of team mousesports since 2005."
Q: I know that you have been playing some StarCraft occassionally. Can you tell me a bit about your experience?
A: "Oh, yes. Many years ago I was a fan of StarCraft and I have been playing at BattleNet with Zergs. My favorite strategy was rushing with "dogs," I can't remember the right word of that unit. :D Also I liked to play with "Mutas" + "Hydras" and sometimes "Lurkers"."
Q: If you're familiar with the StarCraft 2 gaming community, can you tell us who your favorite player is and why?
A: "It's a difficult question for me to answer. Actually I know only European scene correctly and players who competed at IEM 2011 in Kiev, Ukraine. Generally I like players who are competing for many years and are "oldschool". Anyway my favorite players would be: MorroW, Happy, Moon, Ace, White-Ra and DIMAGA."
Q: Last words. What would you like to say the StarCraft 2 people out there?
A: "I am happy that the StarCraft 2 community is so friendly and during my last events (GamesCom, IEM Kiev, CeBIT) I saw how many fans gathered around the stage to watch StarCraft 2. It's a pleasure to watch the game and to meet the players, because they are all very kind persons. I am looking forward to meet some more players at future events and maybe even meet them on the Quake Live servers from time to time, just like MaNa or HasuObs from mousesports."
Talk about having baller fan-art?
