Time to get serious about laddering!
Or at least thats the plan....
Hopefully at least one person that reads this will know of me. I have a small but growing channel on youtube ( http://www.youtube.com/siegestarcraft ) where I broadcast a lot of high profile games from professional gamers from around the world. I love doing it, I have had the pleasure to commentate live a (only one so far but im hoping for more!) real pro-gamer, mTw's Dimaga and a real fan favourite ActionJesuz as well. But mostly its all from replays. Anyway, thats a little off topic. I recently stopped playing WoW, something that has sucked up all of my time for the last 4 years or so when i wasnt at work, eating or sleeping. Now suddenly I have even more time to invest in playing Starcraft! Which is really good, because although I know a lot about the game - I really suck when it comes to playing it. So! Now I have all this time on my hands im going to use if for improving my game to a level where I dont have to be embarressed when I meet someone on the ladder!
Now, the real question is: How do I keep momentum? How do I keep practising when I've lost a load of games and am having a bad day? Well, I thought, why dont I put a few games up on my channel of me laddering? In fact! Why dont I make a weekly show about my laddering!? Well, because I still suck thats why... So, when a friend of mine in masters division offered to coach me for free (he charges his regular clients only $15 an hour, but told me that if I gave him a few shout outs he would teach me for free - WooHoo! ) I decided that the time for sucking was over! No more shall I be the laughing stock of the SC2 community! Hell no! So I took a lesson off of him, practiced my build order a bit and then took it to the ladder for my first placement match...
... and if you want to find out how that went you can go to my channel and see! The vid will be up tomorrow morning (wednesday the 6th of April). Its the first episode of a weekly show that will be up every wednesday. It will be supported by blog entries after every session of laddering (3-4 times a week I hope), nothing long or involved just observations on my play and that of others that I meet on the ladder. I'm really only writing the blog for my own benefit but perhaps someone that reads it might get something out of it.
See you on the ladder! Masters division here I come!
