EPTI watched the sc2sea BSG tonight with hosts zergtastic and goldsy, goldsy being a fellow clan member. This made me ponder on the degradation of our clan over the last 6 months.
Initially Goldsys clan I really should say was a MW2 clan that laddered on the Cybergamers S&D ladder, they were pretty dammed good, he would always tell me about how much they were improving and so on. I came into the picture a few months later. Goldsy and I know each other in real life, infact we are family friends, his parents grew up with mine. I brought MW2 after fighting a loosing battle with him to buy DOW2. I was shit at the game but I was allowed to play with goldsy and his mates on their vent provided they were not scriming (towards the end of the life I was asked once or twice so I must have improved
). This was nearing when blackops came out. Sc2 had been out for a while and we both had it, mainly playing 2v2 and other team games jsut for fun, it wasnt serious. It began to get serious when we developed our first timing co operative timing build. I accidentally had develop the 7RR (it was identical down to the timing and I had not ever seen it done) except that i waited for 1 more round of roaches, which coincided with a stim timing push. It owned, the enemy would prioritise range 3 roaches whilst the rines did the dps. from this point forward sc2 started to get more serious.
Also during this time Goldsys clan had started to fall apart, people were being offered spots in better teams and others were just over the whole COD thing. It was initailly said that the clan would be revived when black ops came out but this failed spectacularly. As such there was a vent server with no clan but many regular users. Most of these people played Sc2. As such the highest rated player Yernbeck decided to create a new sc2 clan of the ashes. This clan started off great we would watch, play and learn, and my play during this time got a lot better. It was also during this time that the meta game became to develop increasingly quick (decemberish last year). Anyway it was a golden age perse. these times came to an end though as Yernbeck fell into the wow trap and members who were loyal to him stopped coming online. In the end it ended up with just Goldsy and Myself as the primary players left. This drought has lasted to this very minute.
As such after speaking with goldsy we have decided that we want to revive the old clan with new people, it will be primarily sc2 focuses with an emphasis on getting better as opposed to just performing well overall and getting higher in the rankings as lets face it, that comes with wanting to be good as opposed to cheesing to greatness. I hate to turn this into an add but thats the current state we are at, we are both uni students and as such have no idea as to whether it is worth our while to invest our time in this.
