Currently, im using some cheap 10 bucks useless keyboard thats jus irritating to type. So I'm gonna get a new keyboard for my desktop and im wondering what to get. The first few people i ask happen to be a buncha nubs so i hadda turn to somewhere where i can seek semi / professional help.

I jus need a simple keyboard actually. I dun game much recently and neither do i wanna pay more for flashy irritating lights or a wireless one. Then again, I prefer it to at least look good and not an eyesore. Compacts are a no-no, way too small for me to handle. Budget-wise, anything up to $50 would be good.

Also want it to actually feel good when typing and a wrist rest would be a bonus.

Any recommendations?

Thanks in advance.

Edit:
What exactly is a mechanical keyboard and whats it's unique selling point?

Unless you are at least willing to spend at least $70 for a Razer Blackwidow, then I don't know what to tell you. You won't be able to break into the world of mechanical keyboards with around $50 unless you get lucky and Newegg has another deal ($54+s/h for the normal BW, cross your fingers for another one) or you choose to settle with the bad mechanical keyboards (iOne Scorpius, Adesso, etc) that are prone to break. If you aren't going to break into the mechanical world of keyboards, then the best you can get will probably be a rubber membrane keyboard that will only be marginally better than your cheap $10 keyboard at best.

If you insist on a $50 budget, then I'd say go look at Microsoft keyboards or at importing the QSENN DT35. I've had great experiences with Microsoft keyboards and my Microsoft Internet Keyboard has lasted me for a long, long time. The DT35 is a preferred keyboard of Korean StarCraft players and even some foreigners due to its reliability and clean look. It is a $10 keyboard in Korea, but it will cost you $35 to import. You can argue that it is one of the best rubber membrane keyboard out there.

Otherwise, if you really want a better keyboard then I'd say get a mechanical keyboard. Where to start?

If I were you, I'd just save up a couple more dollars for a mechanical keyboard. It will definitely be worth your time and effort for a mechanical keyboard, since they are indeed worlds apart from the rubber membrane keyboards. If you can, I'd even recommend saving until you can skip the BlackWidow altogether and get a Filco, Das, or Leopold.

$50 won't get you mechanical, but if you spend like 15 more you can get a cheap one.

Good for what your looking for (contains cherry blues), but be prepared for loud clicks if you haven't heard cherry blues before, (you can look up sound clips on youtube).

Any keyboard below $50 is more or less the same. The cheaper mechanical keyboards in the 60-$80 range, like the iOne Scorpius, have questionable build quality issues. I'd definitely do some thorough research if you do indeed decide to get a pricier keyboard making sure that you get the features that you want (switch type, NKRO, etc).

If you're interested in a mechanical gaming keyboard, you could just go for the Razer Blackwidow. It's about 80$, I believe. Build quality is decent, but all Razer products are only decent build quality. -shrug-
