Day 2 (Platinum): PvT builds and PvP issues.

SiegeATX United States21 Posts March 25 2011 07:42 GMT #1 Lately I've been doing a 2 gate stargate 2 void ray push that's been working well for me against terrans. With my early scout I steal the terrans second gas in hopes they go marine/maurader. Against a 3 rax build it works really well when they wall off their main. You can charge the void rays on the supply depots. This also gives vision to the high ground so your stalkers and sentries can hit and ff. I also like to try and place a proxy pylon right where my void rays are hitting so I can warp into the main. One thing you have to do is hide the stargate though. I usually pick a corner in my base, not close to my ramp or nexus. Most terrans with either scan on the nexus or near the ramps. This terran scans the ramp and doesn't see the VR. He tries to hit my ramp with a stim marine maurader ball. Even with stimed marines the FF layed down keep half the army out of range and quickly get mowed down. After that I pushed to the ramp, placed my proxy pylon and just hammered the front wall for the win. I have a real hard time finding scouting out the cheese before its too late. At that point I can sense that some cheese is coming so I'm wondering is there something else I should do If I sense cheese coming. Maybe wall near nexus with cannons and zealots? I remember that working for me back in gold one time but that was gold. I need to also try cheesing back. That's worked for me as well lol. If there are any Diamond/Plat protoss players out there that would like to run games with me hit me up. Siege.627. -Siege

Welmu Finland3295 Posts March 25 2011 08:07 GMT #2 If you have big issues against scouting cheese in time PvP just go scout with your pylon probe. Also don't spend all chrono boost on probes, but save it for quicker warp gate research to hold off early 4 gates

Canada3485 Posts March 25 2011 09:15 GMT #3 I almost always will scout with my pylon probe in PvP simply because it allows you to react faster when you roll into their base and either notice a forge or a lack of gateways and a low number of probes. The timing difference from the few minerals that probe would mine makes very little difference in gateway timings. Back when there used to be mainly 1v1 maps I scouted with the pylon probe against Zerg as well but now I won't unless it is Xel'Naga Caverns since 6pools are still a threat on it.

SiegeATX United States21 Posts March 25 2011 09:15 GMT #4 I actually almost always scout at 9 pylon. Its just when I get to his base see no pylon, that's when things start to go downhill. I see no pylon so I know something is most likely up. I send 1 or 2 probes running around looking for the cheese but I normally end up finding it too late.
