When I first got starcraft, after quitting WoW. I loved the feeling of a new game I was horrible at with no experience at all, but striving to get better. This was different than other games though besides just spending time on the game made you better, you had to work towards it. I played around 300 ladder games before making it to platnium which is around when I started paying attention to vods, gsl, ect. And I would really only play custom games to make sure I wasn't loosing what little I had.
After about a month or two of a ladder game maybe once a day, I decided (based on my W/L and opponent match history and on a 6 game win streak vs 6 different diamond players) I would sit down for a couple of hours and get to diamond... First two games were annoying, I lost both. The next game I won, and got promoted to diamond. Felt good at the time but...
Then this happened the day after
I have no idea why my account was suspicious but a amusing call followed
A blizzard representative named John called and asked me for my first and last name
His next question was my battle.net account name (since they had me change it I don't mind saying it)
This is where the fun began, I let out a chuckle as I thought about hanging up out of embarrassment but I told him the info, "*giggle* Its uhh, Battlenetsucks@yahoo.com, sucks is spelled sux"... Complete silence. This was the random bullshit email I came up with when I really didn't want to do the battle.net thing on WoW.
Then we went on to trying to prove the account was mine.
"You recovery question is What highschool did you graduate from?"
I instantly hated myself for whatever sick joke I was trying to pull. I had two answers... The highschool I went to but DIDN'T graduate from, or the answer was I just didn't graduate. Hoping it was the first, after him telling me that wasn't correct, I said the next part. And he told me that also was not correct... It was amusing after the phone call but digging threw my computer desk to find 4 year old Burning crusade Key's was not. After looking for about 5 minutes I got my account unlocked and had my email changed to the one I actually use.
This worse part was the end, the awkward silence where no one says goodbye but you've both mentioned about hanging up... Normally this happens with someone you actually know, but It felt weird. And ended with what sounded like a "Ill talk to you later!" from me.
Stuff like this doesn't happen to often to me so I thought it would be amusing to share. (unless John reads it >_>)
