So I was listening to this album I just bought by Way out West, and much to my surprise, I heard something VERY familiar.

I can't tell if it's exactly the same or just eerily similar. I do remember reading somewhere that not all the sounds in Starcraft were made by Blizzard and some are samples from elsewhere, so that might explain it. Or maybe the group just took it out of BW, who knows.
But anyway, I found this pretty interesting and was shocked to hear it, so I just thought I'd share!
Blizzard extensively uses commercial cds in their games. I'm in possession of quite a few of them actually. So, yes, you'll find them everywhere if you know what to listen for.

That explains it. I could swear I've been hearing SC sound effects all over the place. I thought I was nuts. The most memorable was in an episode of Drew Carey where a glass shield rises out of Mimi's desk and I was sure it made the same sound as a Terran building lifting off. I think during the arc where Drew almost hits Mimi with his car by accident and she thinks he was trying to kill her.

It is that fated sound, so little heard early-on in TvP, which spells an incoming all-in MnM rush: ACADEMY! Or just get scan
And at first I was like...what the F is this dude on crack? *scroll down* all these people are weird, I don't hear anything.
Then I realized I started the song at 2:15 (after it had played...) and when I went back and re-listened to this song in its entirety, I just almost flipped my desk over. Nice catch haha.
