Today might be the best day of my life, for the rest of my life. I woke up today expecting a normal day, a day filled with the usual pleasures and hardships, but alas, I was was mistaken.
My friend messaged me and told me, "i found my pokemon silver."As soon as my mind digested this information I EXPLODED across my house and looked for my old cartilages.
I found some chalk which kind of made no sense and doesn't have anything to do with anything but ALL OF A SUDDEN I FOUND IT. There, mixed in with old birthday cards from when I turned the sweet age of 12.
I had found it, I found my Pokemon Red version, My Pokemon Blue version, my Pokemon Yellow version, my Pokemon Silver version, my Pokemon Crystal version, my childhood. (plus Pokemon Trading Card Game, and Golden Sun)
It was as if I traveled back in time, to an age of innocence, sunshine, youth, and endless happiness. I was a Reaver in an unprotected mineral line. A fleet of carriers descending on helpless siege tanks.
(after I found the games I found my GBA under my bed and proceeded to unlock my destiny)
I pop'd my Pokemon Red version into my GBA and everything went smoothly. The game worked and I got to the main menu. But something was off... the game told me I only had 6 badges. Something was wrong. A great injustice has done to the world, or so I thought.
I loaded the save and looked at my roster and within the list came one name, one Pokemon. The very first Pokemon I ever had... My partner in the conquest of the Pokemon world.
Charizard.

I urge you fellow TL readers to go find your pokemon, and relive your childhood. Let the rush of nostalgia overcome you like a vultures in a mineral line.
Edit: The Lineup

whoa didnt know pokemon were all cartilage and no bone like sharks
mine dont save anymore batteries died

I played the hell out of Red when I was a kid. Had purchased Blue at the same time, but never had another Gameboy to borrow for trade shenanigans. So Blue was left unplayed. I eventually picked up Yellow, and managed to transfer all my Pokemon from Red to Yellow. Then I eventually dropped Yellow in the toilet.

Even though it's not exactly the same i can say that i understand your nostalgic feelings and the awesomeness that comes with it.
Saturday i was at a lan party which had a dozen or so old generation consoles(sega megadrives, snesses, nesses) and a room of computers with dosbox on it. Nostalgia can be such an awesome high ^_^

cartridge = cartilage
man thats like, an epic typo. holy shit.

Even though I was into Pokemon, I never owned a Gameboy. At a very young age, I discovered emulation and ROMs.

I caught a Khangaskhan doing the missingno glitch (wasn't at cinnibar.. was somewhere else I did it) but yeah... what a prick. I too only got to 146, my little bro got to 147 can't recall what he had over me. Completed the whole pokemon league without changing pokemon once. Level 69 Charizard the whole way through, didn't level up once during, (my next best was something like a 39 Raichu..) Just me, Charizard and a metric tonne of hyper potions.
Your quote just edited as I typed... oooooh never seen that happen before.

oh my god pokemon crystal was so amazing. Pokemon blue's got nothing on it.
|
I played the shit out of that game, first game I ever got for gameboy.
|
For my last 2 weeks of Year 12 last year, I just took in my brick gameboy and trained my legit 12 year old mew on pokemon red :D
and I think you mean cartridges, not cartilage :S
edit: well semi-legit, it was cloned from my cousin, whom got it from a Nintendo event

Something about the in-game clock always running that eventually drains the battery. It's actually really easy to change the battery and there are several guides you could find online if you really wanted to play

Ah, the TCG Gameboy Game! It was pretty broken though because the coin flipper wasn't randomised so you could time infinite heads and win all the time. ^^

Awww man. I found my Pokemon Silver a few months ago, but the cartridge battery had died, so games couldn't be saved on it. I was highly disappointed that I couldn't play with my level 86 Typlosion again.

Best game ever made....nuff said
