Orignally I had the LG Keybo, basically the same, just a bit blockier. But, the inside screen died, so I got the Keybo 2. I got it cause a. It was cheap b. I absolutely love a Qwerty keyboard for texting The Keybo 2 I've had for about 7-8 months now. The battery charges to full, and by the end of the day with minimal use, it's at 1 bar out of 4. So I decided, I'll get a new phone. I enjoy this phone, but I want a new one.
My 2 choices. I'm with Telus, in Canada. I was looking into the Droid 2/Milestone 2, but there isn't any date for when the Milestone 2 is supposed to come to Canada, and I haven't found anything saying it's here yet.
My reasons for choosing each: (Click on the name for a link to specs) Milesone: I loved the phone when it first came out, and I like heavier, bigger phones. It still has the Qwerty keyboard as well, plus a touch screen. It's very aesthetically pleasing. p_q Fascinate: When I first saw the Galaxy S series, I fell in love with the first one when I tried it out. It was so smooth and the interface was so gorgeous. But the phone is very light, and I'm not 100% sure about a complete touch screen phone, and i'm not sure about the texting.
Right now, price isn't an issue. I'm paying 50$ to cancel my contract, and start a new 3-year contract with the new phone. I believe the Milestone is $79.99 right now with a new 3 year contract, regularly $200. The Fascinate is $99.99 with a new 3 year contract, regularly $149.99. But like I said, price isn't an issue.
So, yeah. Just wondering if anyone has any opinions, more info about the phones themselves(if you have one)~ I will also take any suggestions about other phones as well.
I'll basically be using the phone for texting, very limited calling(I don't call very often, to be honest), facebooking, all that stuff. Maybe a few apps, I don't know. Basic phone use! I might put a few songs on it, maybe some videos, who knows~

I post a status on facebook, and almost everyone said the Samsung Galaxy S. I'm just very iffy about a completely touch screen phone. So I needed more opinions. xP
I'm personally waiting for Galaxy S2 that will be released bit later this year. Dual-core processor for what I heard. Promo video was really nice, can't wait to get to test it out. ^^
But not seen anything about that Droid Milestone, going to look on it.
I personally have the Samsung Galaxy S Captivate through Rogers and I fracking love it. Personally I wasn't sure if I would be able to "enjoy" the 100% touch screen keyboard, especially since I have pretty bulky fingers but I've fallen in love with it and even typing on a physical qwerty keyboard feels like a chore. Obviously there's also features like Swype and such too if that's your cup of tea. Easiest way to find out though is to head over to a cellphone store or a display at Futureshop/etc and try them out yourself!
:D
edit: Also the drawings in the blog are a nice touch. Hahahaha.

By the time that happens you're ready for your upgrade....
The screen is made of Gorilla Glass. The shit is really really difficult to dirty up and scratch. I went a step further and put a screen protector on my Epic 4g and it's been fine after 8 months. The swype is actually more annoying when you want to be lazy because if you aren't precise it'll guess at what you meant to write... and usually it's a bad guess.
The only shitty thing about Galaxy S type phones is the lack of Android 2.2 Most of the time you don't really notice you don't have 2.2. but sometimes you just want to scream at Samsung to stop jerking you around.
Yea I'd get the Galaxy S. I bought the Epic over the Evo because the Epic has a keyboard...and I ended up never using it because Swype is so good.
I have a Galaxy S, great phone. In your position I would probably get the Google Nexus S, its also actually a Samsung phone and very similar but it has googles latest software, android 2.3 Gingerbread (galaxy S has 2.2) I havent really checked the reviews but I'd think its the superior phone, if for nothing else then for the better software.

I have the Nexus S and it's definitely amazing, but if you're in Canada it only works on Wind and Mobilicity, so for now unless you're in a city who has those providers the Nexus is a no go : - (
I was making a similiar decision in Dec, I really wanted the Galaxy S because it looks so awesome but the 3 year contract bugs me.. (im with Rogers)
The fact that phones are progressing SOO fast, and mentions of like dual-core processor phones in the next few months, the new Galaxy phone soon, etc.. Just imagine how out of date the Galaxy S will be in a year or two, then you're still stuck with it!
So what I did, was bought the first used decent android phone I could find on kijiji/craigslist.. for like $100, and went on a pay-as-you-go plan which has no contract. This way, I get a lower monthly rate, and a decent android phone for now.. until the new phones come out, then ill consider going on a contract but even then I may just buy the phone outright if I like it a lot..
I got the LG Eve, which its processor is kinda junky and can only get 1.6 but its fine for now, does what I want and no contract! Im sure I saw some Droid 1's on ebay/etc for like $150, so if you find one of those it'd be cheaper than getting a 3 year contract, and you'll get the phone you want.
I have a Galaxy S (Vibrant version from T-Mobile). Really great phone, super slim, beautiful screen. The only problem I've had with it is that its GPS is kinda slow in locking and T-Mobile has been really slow in rolling out the official Froyo update.
EDIT: Just saw that T-Mobile released the 2.2 10 days ago! Yay!
Samsung Galaxy S! Support a fellow Proleague team = P And to be honest it's actually pretty damn awesome. Great screen, awesome touch, and looks awesome = P
samsung sucks with the android updates. at first i thought i thought it didn't matter, but after froyo rolled out, i noticed my battery life nearly doubled... makes a HUGE difference. i don't know if the droid updates more often.
i'm still not a fan of touch screen keyboards, i've tried swype and now i'm on the gingerbread keyboard. i hate correcting words and would rather have the accuracy and control of a real keyboard.
the camera is nice and it shoots HD video as well. i was considering getting a smaller digital camera beforehand to go along with a DSLR, but i feel like the cellphone camera works well. downside is no flash, looks like the droid has one. (generally i have issues with pictures taken with flash on non DSLR cameras though).
the screen is great. good color, very clear, great resolution.

i have a samsung phone thats completely touch screen, its not bad, and this model is vastly inferior to the galaxy S. You get used to it after a pretty short period of time.
I would never want a phone that uses swipe to text though, i'd much rather type out my words. I've been thinking of getting a new phone as well not sure what i want either.
I have a Galaxy S Fascinate. It's pretty thin and looks great. My brother has a Droid 2 and I've used it a couple of times. The Fascinate screen is slightly bigger, at least for the US version of the Droid.
It all depends on whether or not you can live without a physical keyboard. I don't mind at all because I got use to it from using an ipod touch for a long time. You should probably go to a store and see if you can try out the touch keyboards.
I have the at&t galaxy S and the only issue I have with it is the battery life is mediocre. Idk about the other android phones but it seems my roomate with an iphone gets much better battery life.
I'm honestly inclined to wait until the next generation of phones come out. The Galaxy S has already been out for some time, so soon there will be something to replace it. It'll suck if you go buy it thinking it's awesome and a week later something even more awesome comes out.
The pictures you'd draw for that blog would be...scary.

Yeah, I don't want to switch carriers. Something I've been thinking about for a while. I like Wind, but I've heard they don't work outside of Lower Mainland(where I live).. And Mobilicity is absolutely horrid! =( It sucks, I work at NCIX and we're partnered with it, but my friends phone doesn't work indoors, and he rarely receives his texts. Not to mention he's still being charged for everything he can't use. =[

Thanks for your help everyone! I'll keep taking suggestions or advice, but for now I THINK my mind is set on the Samsung phone. (:

Haha, nah. I'd take it like it is. /shrug I've had that thought process before. "Once I get the new phone.. what happens if another new phone comes out right after?" I think it's why I've held off buying a really nice new phone for so long. =P
One option I've been considering is where I just buy an iPhone with a pay as you go plan (I don't really use minutes ever) and my friend unlocks my iphone to give it free data and app store etc. etc. which just basically means its a phone without a plan, so it pays itself off within months.

I may go with that idea.
Hmm, that's kinda cool. I kinda wish the iPhone was.. more.. just.. Not an iPhone, haha. But that's really awesome. Wish I could get deals like that from my friends. xD

DROOOIIIIIIDDDDDD!!!
Maybe I should get this phone then. LOL. ♥ (P.S. I enjoy seeing you post in blogs that I've posted in as well xD)
Rae, you should look forward to using swype =p when i first saw the demo videos they released last earlier i was pretty iffy about it until i got my legend a while ago and couldn't stand using the regular touch keyboard so i switched into swype beta and its amazing o_o takes a little practice but wow, the developpers behind it are genius to have thought of this.
You think so? It seems so odd. I'm the type of person that enjoys the click. Kinda like.. satisfaction. I don't know, haha. Touch screen phones.. I'll see if I can make a good analogy.
Talking on the phone with someone is much more personal than texting, right? Texting feels impersonal compared to talking on the phone. Clicking the keys of a keyboard or on a phone texting feels more personal than a touch screen phone. Touch screen feels impersonal compared to a Qwerty keyboard. XD!!
Yeah I'm leaning more towards just getting an iphone and doing the unlock thing. Quite frankly it'll pay itself off in a year over the life of those ridiculous contracts. Plus you have more freedom when you want to switch to your next phone.
Reason I'm ok with using an iphone is for one, so many people use it anyways, whats good about apple is they don't settle for what they have and they always do take a step to develop their product. You look at blackberry, they're supposed to be the hot topic but quite frankly they just don't DO any shit whihc is why they are significantly falling behind the iphone and android OS phones
If you're the type of person who wants to end your phones contract before the 3 years is up you might as well spend 600 dollars and change in 1 year than cancel your plan, pay that fee, do all the fees for switching over, all while voiding a 2000 dollar 3 year contract.
Actually, Telus is really good about it.. I think I'm only abouttttttt 1 year to 1.5 years through my contract, and it's a 50$ cancellation fee. That's it. :< That's why it's okay with me.

Haha, I know what you mean. I did the same, actually. Eventually I settled on the HTC Incredible and ended up getting it even though it wasn't brand new. I love it. I don't intend to replace it until 4G Androids are out, and I want one that supports Netflix.
