So over winter break I introduced my brother to BW and apparently it has become his latest video-game obsession. Not only does this warm my heart but is also hugely better than having him waste all his time on a kid oriented WoW clone. It's also practically occupational therapy for him since he is awful at multitasking and responding to things quickly.
But the biggest thing is that it is absolutely adorabe ![[image loading]](http://209.85.62.26/html/emoticons/wub.gif)

BWChart says he had 28 APM but that number is deflated by the part of the game where he has to just kill all of the computers buildings. Still, his peak APM was less than 60.

Also I am reiterating my call for BW guides aimed at the the lowest skill levels because I did not get any the last time I asked : 3
Other things that I found amusing:
- At first he played mainly as protoss since I told him it was the easiest race. But then when he was playing the campaign (original starcraft; gotta give him a complete education
 ) he was playing that TvT mission where you start with a hero BC and 2 CC's and you float them and there's nuclear silos waiting for you and I was like, just make tanks and siege them, tanks kick ass. I come back some time later and he's like, oh my gosh you were right, tanks are soooooooooo good. He doesn't know much, but he was able to figure that out XD
- He told me he doesn't like playing as zerg because you can't queue units, you have to wait for larvae
- Because he doesn't like zerg, he used cheats to get through their campaign; "I using power overwhelming but I figured out some other helpful cheats"
- The first time we played (me T him P, on a map he made (I think that's a different version of the map but the terrain was the same)) I sent an SCV to scout him and he says "you're trying to distract me", "and it's working". I realized he is thinking of that part of the blizzard strategy guide about using a scout to distract the opponent. Then my first 2-3 vultures (very delayed because of the location of the geysers) killed all his probes because he had no dragoons
- The second time we played (same map, same mu) we agreed that we wouldn't attack each other until he said it was ok to do so. When he does, he has like 2 carriers and about 100 supply worth of gateway units (mostly archons) but not observers, and I land 3 nukes on his main and then amove my ~maxed tank/battlecruiser army
- He wants to play against me again. He's definitely improved (he can beat the computer now!) but I think he thinks he might beat me >__>
My hope is that my repeatedly crushing him (accompanied by praise of his very real and constant improvement) will motivate him to improve; idk what else would seeing as finding opponents of his skill level is basically impossible
I can't wait for the next time I'm home so I can watch pro games with him and stuff

An 11 year old taking an interest in a game that was created before he was born, with 2D graphics, I salute your brother for that.
I wish I had a brother who could play games with me like that T_T. Maybe you should show him some pro matches.

I was interesting in SC1 when I was 7/8 years old and I yearned to play it watching my older bro play it. However, i got to play one game, in which I lost. However, I was addicted.

Hehe, I tried getting my 13yo bro into bw but he only plays shitty flash games.
I installed it on my 7yo (now 8) cousins comp last summer. He still plays a here and there but he can only beat comps with me talking over his shoulder so I told him to play 2v1s.
He insisted that he wanted to play vs people so I set him up with some d- games (lol) and he actually survived for like 10 minutes though I think that says more about how bad the other players are...
I also told him to play p but he mostly plays t. The most annoying thing about trying to teach him really basic things is he always forgets building/unit names so I have to describe them repeatedly lol.

I made my 9 year old brother try SC:BW and he loved it, but now he kinda lost interest in it 
He have shown alot of interest in SC2 so i might let him try it ...someday :3

I don't have any brothers or sisters but I tried getting my 13 years old cousin into Broodwar once.
Her excuse after playing couple of games against the computer:
"This game is awesome, but very hard and I feel I'm too stupid for it, sorry bro." p_p

I have a sister (16), and even though she does enjoy playing games occasionally (Mainly smash bros brawl though)
I tried to get her into SC, but she doesn't seems to like RTS D:
She did beat my D+ friend by 4 pooling though (the guy was super shocked, and I teased him about it for a week)

My 13 year old brother started playing about a year ago when I introduced him to BW.
He has HUGE potential... and I'm not even kidding.
He first played Terran and he was like "MEH MECH IS BOOOORING"
Then he played Protoss. He was like "OMG WARP LOOKS AWESOME"
A few weeks later he played Toss for a while.
One time, while introducing him to the pro-scene, I managed to show him videos of none other than
*cough* The Maestro, the Bonjwa, Ma Jae Yoon. He was all giddy with excitement.
He was like "YOU NEVER TOLD ME ZERG IS COOL"
So I told him "Well, it isn't exactly noob friendly, but if you like it go for it"
Because I go to a University away from home, I only get to visit every 3 months.
So during my last visit, I asked my brother regarding the pro-scene.
He told me "BRO I TELL YOU. ZERG. OWNS. IT FREAKING OWNS."
I was like "lol what makes you say that"
He goes "Because Savior, Jaedong, Effort, July, and Yellow [storm zerg yellow] kicks everyone else's asses"
I'm like "NAAAAWWWW."
So he says "Wanna play a game over that?  "
I'm like "SUREE".
So it was PvZ on Python. I was like "ROFL THIS IS GONNA BE EZ"
Then he goes "Psh. Just wait"
So I basically go 14nex just because I think he's gonna be way too chicken to attack me.
Eventually when I go scout, I see lings ALREADY. I was like "WTF HOW DOES HE KNOW 4POOL"
I still won, but his ability to understand the game's mechanics is amazing.
The 2nd game, still on python, he opened with 3-hatch ala Savior. I was totally shocked to see him play with almost the same mechanics as I do.
I average at 220-280 apm. He averaged at 190-230. Not bad for a player who's been only playing for 2 and a half months....
Kids these days are getting better :|

Stealth Tank harrass? Commando/Engineer drops in main base? Those were some other wicked strategies.
