losing track of time

I am literally having difficulties with keeping track of time. Specifically, the date. For whatever reason, I see a date-say, December 12th, for instance, and I calculate the time from the date. So if I saw it on December 4th, which is apparently a Sunday, that means that December 12th is actually a Monday.
Then it turns out that the 4th was actually a Saturday. But for whatever reason I still think the 12th is a Monday. I ignore all dates and computer clocks to the otherwise, even though I am more wired than 99.9% of the human population.
So if I happen to have an assignment due on the 12th, I get it done by the 10th and spend the 11th day triple checking, and it turn it in sometime that evening.
Guess what: it turns out the assignment was due on the 12th, i.e. Sunday, at noon, i.e. when I was triple-checking an assignment I had already perfected to turn it in that evening, blissfully unaware that it was not early but in fact late.
How do you guys keep track of the date? That bottom right corner is all too illusive sometimes.

Basically there is absolutely no need to know the day each day, but when I need to check it out, it happens in 5 seconds via my mobile phone. Now I know the date extremely well because I'm gonna start my school's vacation on 16.12. (thursday) and I got great plans to spend it.

I'm not sure how you can not know what day of the week it is, but it should be kind of easy to keep track of. Like... grab a newspaper or something every now and then. Date is used for a lot of things in life outside of Aiur.

Writing timelists at work usually helps me keep the date. Then again, when I'm not working, I lose track of the calendar days in a moment. Like this november - had a monday final on the 15th, and was supposed to have the next one on the 18th. "Awesome", i thought, "that's a monday and friday exam!

Showing up at the friday realising my final was on the thursday, not so fun.

Use an electronic calendar and set reminders 2 days ahead of events?
Wear a watch with a date indicator?

Is this what happens to people who actually used the agendas they made mandatory in elementary school? I think it is BECAUSE you are so wired that you can't tell the date. I have never used agendas, and therefore I have become experienced in remembering dates.

I forget all about an event when i dont need to know about it and write it down. Then when its time to be aware of said event i read what i wrote earlier and then i have all what i need to know in my head and all that i dont need to know on paper. luls!

I use Google Calendar. Just need a GMail account and you can use the calendar. Easy to add events, the day is highlighted and the time is marked by a red line on the calendar. You can also set it to repeat events, so its easy to remember when you have class and things like that. Plus you can easily set the location of the event, so you wont forget where it is(for example, my finals are not in my regular class rooms, but are spread out all throughout the campus.)

I use it to remember my class times, exam information, assignment due dates, and everything else. You can set it to have a pop-up reminder too if you keep the tab open on your browser.

edit: There's also a link somewhere on TL to add events that are on the TL calendar to your Google calendar, but it seems to not be picking up some of the new events

edit2: I just downloaded Rainlender Lite and its great. Looks very nice on my desktop and there's plenty of customizable skins available online. I would recommend that over Google Calendar.
