Bonita vs West Covina
33-37
One of the absolutely best high school football games I have watched this entire season. Both teams enter the game with 12-1 records, the only loss of Bonita's being from the Bulldogs themselves. Very close game from the getgo, showing off the (white) West Covina Bulldog's rushing game and the (green) Bonita Bearcat's passing game. With 5222 people in attendance at Walnut High School's Ken Gunn Stadium, the stands were completely filled and the emotions could not be higher.
Article here.
As I remembered it, after the last touchdown by West Covina, the bulldogs kicked a very low ball in the kick off and one of the front blockers (?) managed to do a flying kick right at the ball which reflected it right back at the bulldogs, giving them back the ball. In the last play of the game, you could noticeably see the Bearcat's despair as one of the linebackers or safety was on the ground punching the ground.
Also there was a key moment in the final drive by the Bulldogs where one of the Bearcat linebackers missed an easy interception which would have won the game for them.
Again amazing game. Bonita showed some great plays and their QB is amazing, although he slipped up some times. West Covina showed some great effort and an amazing comeback after never having a lead almost the entire game.
