I'm not sure why I've heard people think it's boring. I thought it was pretty fun. I really liked the pacing, the map size relative to the abilities and upgrades available made it feel pretty fast paced. As it stands, I've found liking everything, but overall favoring the destroyer. I really liked the siege mode and the last-minute-save-your-life skills it had, just in case you get too cocky. All things considered, I've seen lots of really good carrier-users which leads me to believe it is one of the best among the current 4 ships. Furthermore, the ability to regenerate (I believe it was 17%) shields on the spot is really useful for getting out of a tight spot. Each ship has some sort of survivability skill, but I feel that the Battlecruiser has the least useful survivability skill. A defense matrix shield that absorbs 1500 damage before breaking, with a 20 second cooldown. Either way, I really like the destroyed and plan to stick with it.
Star Battles? Thumbs way way up.
Second thing:
I've been more or less deprived of gaming as a whole due to a lack of internet. Coffee house wifi on a netbook doesn't cut it, sadly. So, when I visited a friend of mine to play some SC2 on his net (LAN gaming as well, not just net leeching), I hopped on Bnet, and while waiting for a friend to hop on for some Star Battle, I decided to play a ranked match. I play random, and I'm not overly experienced with every race. Ended up playing a TvT game on Delta Quadrant, myself spawning in the top left, the opponent in the top right. He said nothing throughout the whole game which kind of irked me, but I was able to get an early scout on him, noting that he went double gas. He did zero scouting. He had no idea where I was the whole game. I also noticed that he didn't even get an observer. I didn't remember what I was actually going to do, so I ended up making 3 warp gates with the intention of going to colossi. I ended up making a warp prism, 2 more warp gates and backdooring his mineral line with zealots. I did a big hit on his econ with those, but his void rays took out the zealots.
I switched to DTs and eventually just started warping in Dark Templar into the back of his base, doing a base trade. I had no units to defend my base from his void rays and mass stalkers after he killed my first 12-or-so stalkers, but my DTs took out his entire base. He ended up making a nexus and two assimilators at an expo, but my DTs ended up taking care of that too. Bronze league is ridiculous :D
By the way: didn't expo at all. I just woke up from a nap and decided to play! :D
