Hey, I'm doing a survey on WoW and SC2 players, and stuff over at: http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/XQ8MWT5
So far the results are actually really interesting(only been 4 =\), and not really what I expected.
So far, the WoW pvper who took it was actually pretty bad at SC, and the best at SC player was the mediocre PvEr in WoW.
Fairly unsurprisingly, 3 said they were better in WoW than SC, and 2 said WoW was harder for them to get where they are.
Anyway, just take the Survey if you're interested(And play both WoW and SC), and if not don't

Surveys about Starcraft are a grey area right now. On the one hand, where else can you really get survey answers about the game if you are a TL community member? On the other hand, these topics add nothing and provoke no discussion to our forums, they just provide a tiny benefit to the thread OP while pushing down other blogs. Not really sure what to do here other than to discourage people from posting these too often.

I personally don't mind seeing these quick surveys pop up on the site. Most of them only take a minute or so, and the only thing that is bothersome is the fact that it ends up being 4 pages of useless "done!" posts. At least the majority of them are Starcraft related.
Would be nice to see a stronger deterrent against people simply posting "done", since it's just as poor posting as the people who post "no" at the start of balance threads. Oftentimes one person "starts" the conga line and then everyone just follows. .__.

Yeah if they weren't related to SC it's an instant close.

Maybe we should do a survey to see how people feel about surveys.

But on topic, I feel that surveys don't really hurt, but I don't think they contribute much. Maybe if the surveyer would post his results and TL would discuss that?

I answered! Hope that helps hah. I don't think it was really tougher to get where I am in either game - it's more of a learning process I think in WoW but there's definitely things you can do to improve faster... Reading forums, etc. but it's a little different in that you can rip strategies and builds and implement them easier than microing an intensive BO in SC. I think you can read up on WoW a lot and improve but you can read all you want about SC but if you don't actually have experience/micro/macro then knowledge won't help you that much.

So where is the option for equal rather than X or Y?
"Harder" is way too vague, as well.

Done, It's really simple survey actually.

If it's sc related, sure.

How hard was it for me to get to diamond? Super super easy, seeing as how I played 3000+ games of broodwar. I said 2.
How hard was it for me to get to level 63 in WoW? For freaking ever, every day was just grinding and there was no fun at all, I spent like 2 months on it and it was a huge waste of time. All I wanted to do was arena. 10.

I am pretty good in wow. Always am #1 healer or dps, but in WoW everything is about timing and awareness and responding to immediate threats. There is a static strategy for every boss and it's all about execution of that strategy and fufilling a role. The only boss I think that was ever hard was mirmiron in hard mode when it first came out, not because i was failing, but because it required so much awareness at all times. We killed him before they nerfed it thankfully.
In sc2, the execution part is not too hard, microing is pretty easy, but the hard part is determining the best course of action and trying to do 2 things at the same time (micro and macro). In wow, there was never a situation where you were doing 2 things at once, so in that aspect sc2 is significantly harder. The best part of sc2 to wow was that i feel like i'm constantly improving all the time, whereas in wow, you kinda hit a point where it's impossible to improve because you basically play perfectly. hopefully in catacylsm stuff is a little harder, but i doubt it.
SC2 is my first RTS so i'm not very familiar with it. I liked playing civilization and age of empires, but mostly for fun. Also played a lot of FPS games (not that great at those), but i feel like sc2 is an rts that i can get good at. It's not too difficult mechanically (unlike sc1 or halo) but it's not slow such that it requires perfect thinking (like chess), so it's a good balance between the two and I like that part a lot.
BTW i just hit diamond an hour ago so i got to put that (i started copper back in the beta)

What if you only played SCII and not WoW
Should we not participate then?
Or leave the WoW parts blank?
