I guess maybe this is the same kind of deal. Internet desensitizes you to the bad things that happen IRL.
Personally, I'd be freaking out if there was a fire down the street. xD
Hope the people living there are okay! I've heard of being desensitized due to stuff like 4chan but video games? Unlike you're playing Manhunt or something I don't really see how. Killing someone in a game is nothing like killing someone in real life. Idk I think that's what the thread said. It might've just said to the internet in general, I can't remember. =P
But then, games like Counterstrike, Battlefield 2, so on and so on~ They're desensitizing us to war. Although it might show what it's really like(lol), it's still like.. Some people play and are like F YEAH TESTOSTERONE OMG KILL PEOPLE YEAAAAAAAAAH! (Girls do it too!) or if you're like me, you're all OMG WHAT DO I DO I DON'T WANT TO MOVE I'LL DIE AHH.
Point is. Video games/internet = desensitizing us Causing us to go TAKE PICTURES THE HOUSE IS BURNING DOWN COOL!

I can't help but notice many people claiming video games are desensitizing us. If they are, then I can just start wondering where in the world is the sensitivity level of soldiers in duty! What about the gladiators from back when the Roman empire was up; guys trained to live a life or murder, never knowing whether they'd make it to the next day, having blood and guts spilling everywhere before their eyes, and submitting to the will of a single guy in control of their destiny for his pleasure's sake!
We would've been sissies before their eyes, lol.

No. This is a horrible epidemic plaguing America. When something horrible happens, people just pull out their cell phones and take pictures, and don't bother to help. We don't need to encourage that behavior.
It's different for fires. If the fire department has already been called, take as many pictures as you want because you're not going to be able to do anything anyways.
And fires are cool. Just don't be a fucking dick and post the pictures anywhere you think the family might run across them.
