Starcraft 2 still feels brand new. Nothing to do with the game play or anything, sure grad school limits SC2/TL related stuff, but what I'm talking (typing) about is how much the scene and community have aged, or not aged.

"But True! its only been 14 weeks since the game came out, it is new!"

Fair enough, I'll give you that.

But look at everything. Theres more going on now than at nearly any point since beta was released. Nony Idra $400 in 2 hours, two amazing GSL series not quite 12 hours old, biggest NA event ever in 3 days away. I've seen more phenomenal SC2 games in the past few weeks than I can remember. Even PL has that little extra something to it, even if its because you never know when it may not be there anymore.

Can't forget Boxer vs ZergBong and Rainbow vs Foxer in the next few days, just in case MLG was just too long to wait. They are actually the reason I started my second ever blog, So heres my thoughts.

Yet this actually feels a little old...

We all knew it was coming, anyone who stopped and thought at least, once the GSL was announced. And even those who didn't think about it realized it when iNcontroL pointed out just how insane it was to think SC:BW pros wouldn't come to SC2, and to think they wouldn't dominate everyone.

I just didn't think it would happen this quickly, and I'd hoped it'd be less like the Varsity team doing warm ups as the JV team got off the field.

I'm a pretty big Boxer fan, pulled an all night to be sure I didn't miss it, and it was worth it, but am I crazy if I want Rainbow or Foxer to win it, just because they've been around a while? I think I want that experience to count for something, ironically against the guy I'd typically make the experience argument for.

Maybe its even better for SC2 as an e-sport if the old guard doesn't immediately replace the new guys? Don't get me wrong, love the old guard, but new players, teams, rivalries, I was looking forward to it. I mean its ridiculous that I'm willing to defend Cool for having the game maybe a couple months longer...

It just seems like it happened so quickly, the game is still so new.

Rainbow and FoxeR both have BW roots. They're in the BW TLPD.

With that being said, yeah, the advancement of koreans over foreigners has pretty much happened already.
Nature moves in the shortest way possible.

I don't get your point, Boxer started playing SC2 at the same time as ITR, Foxer, NesTea and they' were all SC1 pro's. So were Fruitdealer, SangHo, MVP, IdrA, Tester, NaDa etc.
I think esports is pretty nice.

Hm I guess I should've been more clear, there isn't any logic behind why I'd feel more partial to ITR and FruitDealer, I'm well aware they all have BW roots, actually opted against a joke about Foxer just choosing another girl's name if the Gom boards don't convince him to keep Foxer. And this was definitely not meant to be a foreigner delusions of grandeur type thing, I just didn't mind some of the less common faces or players gone from BW a couple years have a little time at the top of SC2.

I'm not trying to come across as anti BW in any way, like I said I absolutely loved the Boxer Nada match this morning, it was something much more than two very solid terrans meeting in Ro8 because of the history, but the cost of that great experience was the start of some new history between different players. Obviously Boxer Nada is a special exception, and the majority of BW players obviously haven't switched so its not like this is the OSL with nice graphics on Gom, but I'm curious if that is the future with the occasional foreigners on screen.

What he means is SC2 felt special with all these new kids doing great at it and rivalries developing.

After today and especially if he advances further, StarCraft2 turns out to be SlayerS Boxer's little bitch and the 'new thing' feel around SC2 is reduced to same old BroodWar skills with flashier graphics and a few units that can move up cliffs.
