Hey guys, I did some searching but I didn't find such a thread. I hope there isn't a similar one or else you can close this blog. Anyway, as a gamer, I've always taken care of my keyboard. I clean it as often as needed. I suppose you know how dirty keyboard can get, but have you wondered how much more than other things you use? I've come across an article and it's... disgusting. I want to share it with you:
Keyboard nastiness
Which?, a U.K. consumer organization, found in a 2008 study that keyboards can be up to five times dirtier than the average toilet seat.
The major culprits for this grodiness are people not washing their hands after using the restroom and eating food at their desks. In the latter case, sticky fingers transfer sauces and edible particles onto and between the keys.
Our fingers also rub skin oils onto the keys, and overall keyboards can become a great place for germs to fester, as several studies over the years have shown.
One common bug that researchers have turned up is staphylococcus aureus, a classic causer of food poisoning, signs of which include nausea and diarrhea.

Pretty sure everyone is aware about this, I used the toilet reference often and well frankly It never really comes to mind. Ive gone through 2 PCs with this keyboard, yet Im still using it. Maybe its time for me to get a new one.

Germs are really nasty. Wouldn't it be awful if we were breathing a ton of them every day?
But more seriously, I don't see why people are so concerned. Right now my hands are probably super disgusting from the keyboard, that's why I won't be sucking on my finger for the next few minutes (even though I could probably lick all over my keyboard and not get sick)

I DO lick my keyboard all over.
Imagine the average PC Bang. niceeeee

I wanna get one of those keyboards without holes in between the keys so its easier to clean but they happen to be significantly more expensive.
|
I've never heard of a keyboard like that Ixas, do you have a link?
The only thing I've seen to combat dirty keyboards are the plastic sleeves that you see in libraries and such... which are all nasty looking and turbo dirty.

This actually motivated me to clean my keyboard lol, it was starting to look kind of nasty. It's actually a real pain removing each key, took almost an hour.

This is somewhat disgusting ... why would you not wash your hands after coming out of the bathroom ... I don't even touch the door with my hands when I leave because of these people (I either kick the door open or use a paper towel and open it).

I don't always wash my hands when I piss, but I do when I shit. However, I do wash my hands/face randomly through out the day and usually before I eat.

You wonder why people dont wash their hands after they take a leak, it occurs often. I mean I even turn the sink on and open the door with paper towels, thats not even being obsessive.
Maybe it doesnt matter when you dont touch your johnson? Either way its pretty nasty.

what's your dick, your dick is skin. Do you wash your hands after you touch your arm? your face? no of course not so why wash your hands after you touch your dick, in fact it's probably CLEANER than most of your body cause it's almost always protected.
Of course i wash if i get something on me or if i touch something in those restrooms with my bare hands. But yeah

The reason i wash my hands after pissing in a public toilet is that if you piss in a urinal, your pee will always spray a little. you can't see or feel it, but it does spray. so when holding your dick with your hands, both dick and hands get inevitably sprayed.
if you touch everything else (doorhandles, soapbox etc) with a sleeve or sheet of toilet paper covering your hand, there is no harm in washing your hands..
on topic, i always try to keep my keyboard clean, washinghands before, but i dont think it is much better than other keyboards, since i eat a lot while gaming :/

"Breaking news: dirty people have dirty keyboards!"
Not a shocker, really. People just need to stop being disgusting and start being clean instead.
