Hi,
This is my first blog post on TL, but I won't introduce myself. I'm a huge fan of SC/BW and have played it between 1999 and 2005. I had decided I wouldn't touch SC2, but I couldn't prevent myself from doing it after seeing so many awesome ads, magazine articles and listening to the official soundtrack, which is absolutely fantastic.
I've never been a really good player, although my ZvP (in BW) was decent, let's say it was C+ level on ICCup. After putting my hands on SC2, I set a goal to myself: become a diamond player. Yeah I know, it's easy, but it's not my intention to become a top player. After I made it to diamond, I didn't feel like playing anymore. Then I thought 'hm I should get to diamond on all other leagues'. And that's what I'm doing currently. Now I'm diamond at 1v1, 2v2 and 3v3. Tomorrow I'll start the quest on 4v4. After that I'll focus on 1v1 again, and then my focus will be "reach 1000 rating". So far I'm a 400 diamond. I think if I reach 1000 diamond I'll probably stop playing, as I think it would be too time demanding to keep playing and try to improve my rating. Anyway, who knows, right?
I'm actually undecided on which race I should play with. I've always been a Zerg since SCBW. I started SC2 as a zerg as well, but after I started playing 2v2 and 3v3 I decided to pick random, so I would get to know the other races better. It has really helped me so far on that matter. Anyway, getting back to the topic. I don't know if I want to keep playing as a Zerg anymore, although deep inside I feel like I'll be betraying "my" race if I change race lol. This feel stupid, but it's exactly how I feel. I completely blow with Protoss. Since SC1! I don't know what's up with them, but I just can't get their timing, it's such a weird feeling. I feel slightly better with terran, but whenever I play a race other than Zerg it seems like it's a completely different game. My timing really sucks with them. I'd love to play terran for a while because of Boxer. I've always been his 'fan', since 2001~~. Seeing him play GSL was awesome, it was like I was watching the Brazilian football team in an important match of an important tournament. I felt like I'd be really upset had he lost his R64 match.
Well, so far, I think i'll play Random. I also find the die icon extremely cool. It's also nice that we don't see that many random players around the ranking, so it feels kinda special when you see that die icon on the list. I intend to play a few matches everyday so I improve my mechanichs as well. I'm really slow. I'm kinda fast with the mouse, but I leave a lot things idling during a game. It annoys me. Sometimes I realize it and think "holy shit WTF am I doing! Why is this idle for so long!". So yeah, I think with time this problem will be reduced.
When I start playing 1v1 again, I'll use this blog to track my game and my results. I saw someone created a nice excel file for game tracking, I'll definitely use it in the near future. Okay that's it. Thank you for reading [if you made it this far!].
