You don´t have to "learn" to type, just pay attention to press every key with the finger closest to it for sometime and it´ll stick. Also open notepad and write random sentences and stuff while watching vids/vods/anime/porn or whatever you whippersnappers like to watch. I admit that I sometimes do alot of mistakes but my backspace operation is so godly fast they don´t really slow me down too much. My rest position is something like shift,a,e,f,j,i,l, and -/ö/ä area (scandinavian keyboard). It just feels the most natural & "fastest" E. Also ofc play starcraft and spam like hell!

But why do you think there's something wrong with your typing? Go to the typing racer game someone mentioned and find out your wpm. If you're looking at the keyboard when you type then just stop looking at the keyboard. If you're not using all 5 fingers, then slow down and make a conscious effort to always use the optimal finger; after a while your brain will re-wire itself. P.S. don't take the two above typing games too seriously. Competitive typing requires you to practice many low-frequency and obscure words.

I type ~150wpm and don't use optimal fingerings:S I don't think it's super important as long as you're using 3+ fingers per hand.

I mean, really if you want to learn to type "correctly" just see if you can't find a finger diagram or something. Really I find the standard home-row method on QWERTY is just intuitive. You use the finger that doesn't really move your hand much from the homerow to hit a key. Go slow and you get faster as you move along. Memorize the home-row keys first, get used to hitting space, enter, and backspace quickly, then just cycle through index, middle, ring, and little fingers. The question is really though, why? I mean, if you type really well as you do it, just keep it that way. Conforming to a "standard" when it won't improve your productivity is stupid IMO, just do what is comfortable to you and stick to what you're used to.
