Is it actually possible to get good in SC2 without ever playing StarCraft before?

I'm following the SC scene a bit and I like the huge community of it. That like every tournament has 400 players always, it's incredible.

I never really played RTS before, but as I know i'm a fast learner , I just need to know the basics. (Also I can be very dedicated to a goal)

I also like to learn new stuff, doing the same thing over and over until you know how it's done, is boring for me. That's why I like to learn to do new things.

i think much less of the current sc2 playerbase has played starcraft before than you think. and sc2 is imo a pretty easy game to learn, so yeah, definitely.

As someone previously stated, no you don't need to be familiar with SC to excel in SC2. It does give you certain advantages though.

Not playing an RTS before would probably put you at a bigger disadvantage than not playing SC, but either way you can certainly pick the game and become good, depending on how much effort you want to put into it.

If you have incredible mouse control, multitasking capability, and decision-making skills, of course it's possible!

My mouse control ain't bad, multitasking should be ok, decision making is something random :D. I just choose something

I played sc1 3 months before the sc2 beta (as sort of preparation for sc2). I made to D+ (only tvp). I never played another RTS. I come from the call of duty 2 scene. Now I'm avarage: 1650 points diamond. You will not immediately become a topplayer but with some talent and hard work you can be at the top in a year.

And those things all improve with time, so no worries that you don't have a big history in RTS. Play the game passionately and you'll see yourself climbing the ladder in no time. Just make sure you're having fun while doing so, no point in trying to catch up to people if it feels like work
